Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Sections 101, 102, and 105, open undulating agricultural and pastoral land of very fair quality; situated from six to seven miles from Kawakawa by good road. Sections 103, 104, 106 to 109, undulating to broken agricultural and pastoral lands, partly open and part forest, and well watered; portions of the sections are volcanic; easily accessible from Kawakawa by good road, distant from six to eight miles.

Sections 1 to 7, Block XIV., open and forest lands, undulating to broken, and well watered. Sections 8 and 9 have each about 50 acres open fern land, balance heavy mixed forest, with some kauri and totara in gullies. Section 10, all heavy mixed forest land, well watered. Section 11, about 300 acres open fern and tea-tree land, well watered, balance heavy mixed forest containing some kauri and totara. Sections 12 and 13, heavy mixed forest containing some kauri and totara. Sections 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are situated on the main formed road; the other lots will have roads formed to them eventually. These lands are situated from seven to twelve miles from Kawakawa towards Puhipuhi, and are of fairly good quality, and suitable for sheep- and cattle-raising. Block XV., all heavy mixed forest lands containing some kauri and totara, and with small agricultural flats in the valley of the Waiotu River and adjoining Puhipuhi Forest. The sections are well watered, and are situated about sixteen miles from Kawakawa, and four miles from the Puhipuhi Hotel.

Mixed forest land containing some scattered kauri and totara; situated in the valley of the Waiotu River, about fifteen miles and a half from Kawakawa. There are small alluvial flats on the Waiotu.
