Conditions of Lease.

Term of lease: Ten years, without right of renewal.
Rent payable half-yearly in advance.
No compensation for improvements will be paid during either the currency or at the termination of the leases; but lessees will have the right to remove all fencing and buildings prior to expiration of leases.

Sale by Auction of Lease of University Reserve No. 28, Greymouth.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leaseholds of subdivisions of University Reserve No. 28, Town of Greymouth, set out hereunder, will be offered by public auction at the Land Office, Hokitika, on Thursday, the 28th December next, at the hour of 2 o'clock in the afternoon, at the upset prices noted, for the term of fourteen years; improvements of value of £200 attaching to Subdivision 28A (in favour of the Greymouth Hospital).

Plans may be seen at the Land Office, Hokitika, and the Resident Magistrate's Court, Greymouth; other full particulars as to conditions of lease, &c., may be ascertained at the Land Office, Hokitika.

Payments to be made on the fall of the hammer, and consist of one year's rental in advance, lease-fee £1 1s., and the valuation for improvements, if any.

Pastoral Runs, Hawke's Bay, open for License on Application.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Napier, 31st October, 1893.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned pastoral runs will be open for license for the term of twenty-one years, on application, on and after Friday, the 1st December, 1893, at the annual rental noted below. In case of more than one application for the same run on the same day, priority of selection will be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.

On Run No. 1 there are about 5,600 acres of open fern country, the remainder being mixed bush. About half the run is undulating and level, the rest rather broken. On Run No. 2 about 2,100 acres are open fern land, the balance being bush.

The soil on both runs is light pumice, and they are well watered. They are accessible by pack-track from Wairoa, distant forty-eight miles, and from Mohaka, about twenty-eight miles.

Conditions.

  1. Possession of the runs will be given to the purchasers of the licenses on the day of the Land Board approving their application.

  2. No person or company may become the holder of more than one run under Part VI. of "The Land Act, 1892": Provided that the holder of any run under the said Act of a carrying-capacity of less than ten thousand sheep or two thousand head of cattle may become the lessee of an aggregate area sufficient to carry such a number of sheep or cattle. The holder of any small grazing-run under Part V. of "The Land Act, 1892," shall not be the holder of any run under Part VI. of the said Act.

  3. The license shall be dated on the 1st March, 1894, and shall include in addition the whole period between the date of possession and the said 1st March, 1894.

  4. The license shall be subject to the following conditions, amongst others:—

That if the licensee or any person claiming an interest through or under him shall make or cause to be made any agreement or contract, or shall give or cause to be given or taken any negotiable security, for the purpose of defeating or evading the provisions of, or shall in any way whatsoever directly or indirectly commit or be privy to a fraud upon, "The Land Act, 1892," the license shall be liable to be forfeited and revoked;

That the licensee shall prevent the destruction or burning of timber or bush on the land comprised in the license;

That the licensee shall prevent the growth or spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the license, and shall with all reasonable speed remove or cause to be removed all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner; and
