Accession of New Zealand to the Trade-marks Convention between Great Britain and Ecuador.*

My LORD,—With reference to your Lordship's despatch No. 4, of the 7th March last, I have the honour to inform you that the accession of New Zealand to the Trade-marks Convention between Great Britain and Ecuador, of the 26th August, 1892, has been duly notified to the Government of Ecuador, in conformity with the stipulation in Article II. of the Convention.
I enclose translation of the decree which has been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Quito.

In virtue of the contents of the notes of Her Britannic Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires, dated the 20th and 28th June last, and in conformity of the stipulation in Article II. of the Anglo-Equatorian Convention relative to trade-marks, signed on the 26th August, 1892, and ratified on the 3rd February last, the following colonies are hereby included in the operation of the Convention, and entitled to the privileges accruing therefrom:—
Queensland, Natal, Newfoundland, the Cape of Good Hope, and New Zealand.
Let it be registered, communicated, and published for His Excellency.

Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Wellington, 10th November, 1893.
COMPLETE specifications relating to the under-mentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing, in duplicate, of opposition to the grant of any such patent, stating in such notice the particular grounds of his objection. A fee of 10s. is payable with such notice:—
No. 5976.—4th January, 1893.—HUGH DIXSON, of Park and Elizabeth Streets, Sydney, New South Wales, Tobacco Merchant (assignee of Wilfrid Noyce Kernot, of Colonial Mutual Chambers, Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Engineer). An invention for an improved machine for making cigarette-holders. (Specification, £1 14s.; drawings, £4.)*
No. 6008.—25th January, 1893.—ALEXANDER JONES GRANT, of Ongaonga, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, Blacksmith. An invention for straining and splicing wire at any part of a wire-fence where the wire may be loose or broken without having to draw any staples, to be called “Grant's Strainer and Splicer.” (Specification, 8s.; drawings, 10s.)*
