source to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section No. 511, Hokonui District; thence towards the south generally by the Hokonui and Winton Ridings of the County of Southland, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 88, 31st August, 1883, to the Otapiri Stream; thence by that stream for a distance of 40 chains; thence by a line due west to the road intersecting Sections Nos. 354, 405, and 670, and its continuation along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 19, through Sections Nos. 20, 445, and along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 258, to the Oreti River; thence by a line across that river and by the said Oreti River and Southland County to a point in line with the northern boundary-line of Section No. 263, Taringatura District; and thence by a right line to and by that section, and the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 136, to the Aparima River; thence towards the west by that river to its confluence with Hamilton Burn; thence by a line due north to the Oreti River, and thence by that river to its confluence with the Windley Stream; thence towards the north-west by a right line to Eyre Peak, and thence by a right line to the source of the Mataura River.

DIPION DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north by Wallace County; towards the north-west by the Oreti River; towards the north-east by the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 258, Hokonui Survey District, and its continuation, intersecting Sections Nos. 445 and 20, along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 19, and intersecting Sections Nos. 670, 405, and 354, to the Otapiri Stream, and thence by that stream to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 273; towards the south generally by that road and its continuation, intersecting Sections Nos. 345 and 335, along the northern boundary of Section No. 658, intersecting Sections Nos. 711 and 426, along the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 365, and intersecting Sections Nos. 256 and 136, to the Oreti River, thence by that river to the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 69, Taringatura District, thence by that road and Section No. 347, thence by the Bluff Harbour Endowment to the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 192, and thence by a right line due west to Wallace County; and towards the west by Wallace County.

WINTON DISTRICT.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded towards the north generally by Sections Nos. 160 and 185, Taringatura District, and the southern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced to the Southland County boundary; thence by that county to a point due west of the southern boundary-line of Section No. 192; thence by a right line to and by that section, by Sections Nos. 351, 350, 349, 348, 69, Taringatura District, and the southern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced to the eastern side of the Oreti River; thence by the eastern side of that river and the northern side of the road intersecting Sections Nos. 136 and 256, Hokonui District, and its continuation along the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 365, intersecting Sections Nos. 426 and 711, along the south-western boundary of Section No. 336, and intersecting Sections Nos. 335, 345, and along the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 273, to Otapiri Stream; thence by that stream to the southern boundary-line of Section No. 354; thence by Section No. 354 aforesaid to the south-eastern corner of that section; thence towards the east generally by Run No. 119a, Section No. 442, Hokonui District, and Run No. 119b, to Lora Stream; thence by that stream to Forest Hill Hundred; thence again towards the north by Hokonui Survey District; towards the east by Waimumu Hundred; again towards the south-east by a line bearing S. 45° W. to a point in Section No. 221, Forest Hill Hundred, bearing N. 48° 58' 36" E., and distant 26509·6 links from the north-western corner of Section No. 190; thence again towards the east by a line due south for a distance of 200 chains; thence towards the south by a line due west to the right bank of the Makarewa River; thence again towards the south-east generally by the said Makarewa River to Section No. 82, Forest Hill Hundred; thence again towards the south by that section and Sections Nos. 280, 262, and 289, Forest Hill Hundred, and a right line from the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 14, Block VIII., New River Hundred; thence by that hundred to the Waimatuku Stream; thence towards the south-west by that stream to its source; thence by Sections Nos. 12 and 11, Block XVI., Jacob’s River Hundred, and the Township of Hodgkinson, to the Aparima River; and thence again towards the north-west and towards the west by the said Aparima River to Section No. 160, Taringatura District aforesaid.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the tenth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

Terms and Conditions of Lease of Village-homestead Settlement in Marlborough.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of October, 1893.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and sixty-ninth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon which the lands in any village settlement shall be disposed of, subject as in the said section is provided: And whereas by a Proclamation made under the said Act on the thirteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the nineteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three, the lands described in the First Schedule hereto have been set apart under the said Act and declared open for lease as a village settlement, and it is expedient to fix the terms and conditions upon which the said lands shall be disposed of:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix the terms and conditions on which the lands mentioned in the First Schedule hereto shall be disposed of by way of lease in perpetuity, and which said terms and conditions are set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and also doth direct that the lands in the said village settlement shall be divided into village-homestead allotments only.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. THE lands enumerated in the First Schedule hereto are first-class lands, and are divided into village-homestead allotments, open for selection on lease in perpetuity, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”).

  2. The day on which the lands shall be open for selection shall be Wednesday, the twentieth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.

  3. The rental stated in the First Schedule hereto shall be the price at which the land shall be open for selection.
