Agency of the Public Trust Office opened.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

THE New Zealand Railway Commissioners, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred by “The Government Railways Act, 1887,” do hereby make the following alterations in and additions to the scale of fares, rates, and charges on the New Zealand Government railways, to come into force on and after the 5th day of February, 1893:—

PART I.—PASSENGERS: LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.

KAIHU SECTION.

Second-class single, 2d. per mile; second-class return, 3d. per mile.

PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.

KAIHU SECTION.

Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, E, and H will be charged as Class A.

Classes F and M will be charged as Class M.

Classes N and P will be charged as Class N.

Class K, consigned to Dargaville for shipment, will be charged as follows, per 100 superficial feet:— s. d.
For distances not over 10 miles .. .. 0 8
Over 10 miles and not over 13 miles .. 0 9
Over 13 miles and not over 17 miles .. 0 10

The Railway Department may require owners to unload timber from the railway-wagons at Dargaville. For unloading done by the railway at Dargaville the following charges will be made, per 100 superficial feet:— s. d.

The department may require the owners of goods to find all labour for landing or shipping goods. On all goods not otherwise provided for, for which the Railway Department finds labour, 1s. per ton will be charged for landing or shipping. For unloading charges on timber shipped at Dargaville, see Local Rates (Part IV.).

Charges for the Use of the Wharf.

On every vessel lying at the wharf, per working day s. d.

REMARKS.—Early part of month strong wind from N.W. and showery; the maximum rainfall recorded on 5th, 3·25in., which fell during the day and night of 4th, N.W. and S.E. wind; finer during latter part of month, but occasional showers and strong wind; thunder on 10th, hail on 10th. Maximum temperature in shade, 74·1; minimum, 45; mean temperature of dew-point, 49·8; mean humidity, 67. Earthquake on 2nd, slight, at 10.10 p.m.
