Rural Lands in the Nelson Land District open for Sale
or Selection.
GLASGOW, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth
section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received
the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the
said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural
lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale
or selection on and after the eighteenth day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-three; and also that
the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for
occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity,
or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain
any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease
in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at
which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as
mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that
the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and
subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
All that block of land, situated in the Land District of
Nelson, containing approximately 2,650 acres, situated in
Blocks VIII. and XI., French Pass Survey District. Rough,
wooded hills; timber chiefly birch.
Also, a block containing approximately 8,900 acres,
situated in Blocks VI., VII., IX., X., XI., and XII., French
Pass Survey District. Rough, wooded hills; timber chiefly
birch.
Also, a block containing 750 acres, situated in Block VII.,
French Pass Survey District. Rough, wooded hills; timber
chiefly birch.
Access is by sea only. Cash price per acre, 7s.; occupa-
tion with right of purchase, rent per acre, 4·2d.; lease in
perpetuity, rent per acre, 3·36d.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventeenth day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-three.

Land temporarily reserved in the Land District of
Canterbury.
GLASGOW, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section
of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or
particular description, and whether the same has been
surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwith-
standing that the same may be then held under pastoral
license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required
for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land
District of Canterbury described in the Schedule hereunder
written, for the purpose in the said Schedule specified at the
end of the description of the land so intended to be tempo-
rarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District,
containing by admeasurement 19 acres 3 roods 28 perches,
more or less, being the greater portion of Section No. 255 (in
red), Block XV., Grey Survey District. Bounded on the
north-west by a road-line, 2400 links; on the north-east by
a road-line, 2403 links; and on the south-west by Section No.
16250, 1848 links: save and excepting from the easternmost
corner of the said Reserve 255 (in red), a small triangular
piece of land which is included within the above-described
boundaries: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as
the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of
the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For a gravel-pit.

this twenty-first day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-three.
