In the matter of "The Companes Act, 1882," and its
amendments; and in the matter of the New Zealnd Loan
and Merctile Ageny Company (Limted).
NOTICE is heraby given that a petion for the winding-
up of the above-named company by the Supreme
Cort was, on the 18th day of July, 1893, presented to Mr.
Jutice Conolly, a Juge of the Supreme Cort, by HENRY
GOLSTONE, of Queen Street, Auckland, Commision Agen
and Accountant, a creditor of the said company; and the
said petion is directed to be heard before a Juge of the
said Cort on Tuesday, the 22nd day of August, 1893, at the
hout of 11 o'clock in the forenoon; and any creditor or con-
tributory of the said company desirous to oppose the making
of an order for the winding-up of the said company under
the above Act should appear at the time of hearing, by him-
self or his counsel, for that purpose; and a copy of the

2 o'clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having an
account la before them showing the manner in which the
winding-up has been conducted and the property of the
company dispoed of, and of hearing any explanation that
maybe given by the Liqidaor, and also of determinng by
extraordnary resolution the manner in which the books,
acounts, and documents of the company, and of the Liqida-

WHEENUAKURA-WAITOTARA ROAD BOARD.
NOTICE OF TAKING LANDS FOR PUBLIc WORS.
NOTICE is heraby given that the Whenuakura-Waitotara
Road Board proposes execung a certain public work,
to wit, the construction of a road through Section No. 16 of
Block XI., Wairoa District, commnly known as "Heraun
Reserve," and for the purpose of such public work to take,
under the provions of "The Public Wors Act, 1882," and
the amendments thereto, the lands described in the Schedle
hereto, which said lands are owned by Ngaaki, Raumati,
Nga, Kare, Raukura, Tainakore, Rangit, Rihono, and
Pori, all of Whenuakura, aborginal nates of New Zealnd,
and occuped by the said aborginal nates.
And notice is heraby further given that a copy of the
plan of the said road and of the lands so required to be taken
is deposited at the reidence of Mr. Issac Lupton, at Waverley,
being Section No. 316, Okotuku District, and is there open
for inspction.
And notice is heraby further given that all persons
affcted by the execution of the said public work, or by the
taking of the said lands, shall, if they have any well-founded
objecions thereto, set forth the same in writing, within forty
days from the first publicaion of this notice, to the said
Whenuakura-Waitotara Road Board, at its office in the
Towship of Waverley.
SCHEDLE.
ALL that parol of land containing by admeasurment 2 aces
3 rood 9 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 16,
Block XI., Wairoa District, Provinial District of Wellington,
as the same is delineated on the plan before mentioned, and
theron coloured red.

Te Makarini Scholarsips, held at Te Aute College, Hawke's
Bay.
THREE scholarships of the yearl value of £35, tenable
for two years, are offered for competition. One of
the scholarships, to be called the senior scholarship, is
open to all Maoris under sixteen years of age at the end of
the month preceding the date of the examinaion; the other
two scholarships are juniorscholarhips, and are open to all
Maoris under fifteen years of age at the end of the month
precding the date of the examinaion who have not been
pupis at Te Aute or St. Stephn's, and whose atendanc
at school during the previous year is considered by the In-
sptor of Natiive School to have been satisfacory. The
senior scholarship is offered for competition among Maori
boys on the conditions la down in the regulaions of the
Trutees of the Te Makarini Scholarsips Fund, as printd
in the Natiive School Code, 1893. Candidates for the
juniorscholarhips will be examind in the subjects specifed
for Standard I. in the Natiive School Code, 1893. The
quesions will, however, be more difficult than those set for
the standard examinaions. The examinaion will be held
at convenent centres on the 18th and 19th December, 1893.
