NOTICE is hereby given that, in conformity with section
202 of "The Companies Act, 1882," a general meeting
of the Lake Rochfort Sluicing Company (Limited), in
liquidation, will be held at the office of the Liquidator,
Princes street, Dunedin, on Saturday, the 23rd September,
1893, at 12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of receiving the
Liquidator's accounts and hearing his explanation with
reference thereto.

TAKING LAND UNDER "THE MUNICIPAL COR-
PORATIONS ACT, 1886," AND "THE PUBLIC
WORKS ACT, 1882."
NOTICE is hereby given that the Christchurch City Coun-
cil is taking, under the provisions of the above Acts,
the following strip of land: viz., "All that plot of land coloured
red on the plan annexed hereto, containing one perch and
six-tenths of a perch, more or less, and bounded on the east by
the Stanmore Road, and on the south by Victoria Street;
and commencing at a point on the south-east corner of Mr.
McGrath's land, and running northerly for a distance of 100
links; thence westerly for a distance of 10 links; thence
southerly for a distance of 103·70 links; thence easterly to
the starting-point, a distance of 10·60 links."
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the said
strip of land lies at the office, during office-hours, of the said
Council for public inspection. All persons affected by such
action of the said Council are hereby required to set forth in
writing any objection to the taking of such strip of land, and
to forward such written objection, within forty days from the
date of the first publication hereof (17th July, 1893), to the
Town Clerk of the said Christchurch City Council.

OF REGISTRY.
Friendly Societies' Registry Office,
Wellington, 17th July, 1893.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly
Societies has, pursuant to section 10 of "The Friendly
Societies Act, 1882," by writing under his hand dated this
17th day of July, 1893, cancelled the registry of the Hope of
Mahurangi Tent, Register No. 190 (5), held at Warkworth,
and of the Hope of Bombay Tent, Register No. 190 (7), held
at Bombay, branches of the New Zealand District Inde-
pendent Order of Rechabites, on the ground that the said
branches have ceased to exist.

THE PALMERSTON NORTH OPERA HOUSE COM-
PANY (LIMITED).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of the members of
the above-named company, convened and held at the
office of the Manawatu Road Board, in Palmerston North,
on the 26th day of May, 1893, the subjoined resolution was
duly passed; and at a subsequent extraordinary general
meeting of the members of the said company, also duly con-
vened and held at the same place on the 19th day of June,
1893, the said resolution was duly confirmed:—
"That the Palmerston North Opera House Company
(Limited) be wound up, and be wound up voluntarily."
And at such last-mentioned meeting WALTER RUTHER-
FURD, of Palmerston North, Accountant, was appointed
Liquidator for the purposes of the winding-up.

hereby give notice that it is my intention to apply to you on
the 16th August, 1893, to have my name placed on the
Medical Register of the colony, and that I have deposited my
evidence of qualification for public inspection with the

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.
NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership lately carried
on by the undersigned, LETHAM WALLACE MACKERSEY,
JAMES JOHN MACKERSEY, and CHARLES LINDSAY MACKERSEY,
at the Lake Station, Wallingford, as Sheepfarmers, under the
style or firm of "Mackersey Brothers," has this day been
dissolved by mutual consent. The said Letham Wallace
Mackersey and Charles Lindsay Mackersey will carry on

Brothers," and will receive and pay all debts due to and by

In the matter of "The Companies Act, 1882;" and in the
matter of the South Pacific Trading Company (Limited).
BY an order made by the Supreme Court of New Zealand,
Northern District, at Auckland, in the above matter,
dated the 14th day of July, 1893, on the petition of George
Roope McCrae, a creditor of the above-named company, it
was ordered that the said company be wound up by this
Court under the provisions of "The Companies Act, 1882."

Te Makarini Scholarships, held at Te Aute College, Hawke's Bay.
THREE scholarships of the yearly value of £35, tenable
for two years, are offered for competition. One of
these scholarships, to be called the senior scholarship, is
open to all Maoris under sixteen years of age at the end of
the month preceding the date of the examination; the other
two scholarships are junior scholarships, and are open to all
Maoris under fifteen years of age at the end of the month
preceding the date of the examination who have not been
pupils at Te Aute or St. Stephen's, and whose attendance
at school during the previous year is considered by the In-
spector of Native Schools to have been satisfactory. The
senior scholarship is offered for competition among Maori
boys on the conditions laid down in the regulations of the
Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as printed
in the Native Schools Code, 1893. Candidates for the
junior scholarships will be examined in the subjects specified
for Standard IV. in the Native Schools Code, 1893. The
questions will, however, be more difficult than those set for
the standard examinations. The examination will be held
at convenient centres on the 18th and 19th December, 1893.
Candidates must, either directly or through their teachers,
send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education
Department, Wellington, of their intention to present them-
selves for examination. Such notice must be posted not
later than the 31st October next.
Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be
obtained from teachers of Native schools and boarding insti-
tutions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secre-
tary for Education.
