Declaring the Pukemiku and Toretia Roads and Part of the Makuri Road, in Pahiatua County, to be County Roads.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of June, 1893.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Pukemiku and Toretia Roads and part of the Makuri Road, described in the Schedule below, and which were made by the Governor under the powers contained in the said Act, and have hitherto been Government roads, shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.

SCHEDULE.

THAT road known as Pukemiku Road, one chain in width, which commences on the right bank of the Mangatainoka River, near Allotment No. 81, Pahiatua Village Settlement, and proceeds in a south-easterly direction to the main road, Masterton to Woodville: all in the Mangahao Survey District, Pahiatua County, Land District of Wellington.

That road known as Toretia Road, one chain and upwards in width, which commences at the main road, Masterton to Woodville, near Allotment No. 68, Pahiatua Village Settlement, and proceeds in a south-easterly direction, passing Allotments Nos. 68, 13, 14, 15, 25, 26, 28, and 63, Pahiatua Village Settlement, Sections Nos. 9, 13, 14, and 15, Block VIII., Mangahao Survey District, and Sections Nos. 15 and 16, Block IV., Makuri Survey District, to and across the Tiraumea River to the Township of Ngaturi: all in Pahiatua County, Land District of Wellington.

That portion of the road known as Makuri Road, one chain and upwards in width, which commences at Ngaturi Township, on the Tiraumea River, and proceeds in south-easterly and easterly directions through the said Ngaturi Township and Sections Nos. 36, 35, 38, and 40, and along the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 43 and 46; through Sections Nos. 52, 54, 55, and 56, Block VIII., Makuri Survey District, and Sections Nos. 62 and 61; along the south-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 60, 59, 58, 57, and 39; through Section No. 7, and along the western and southern boundaries of the last-mentioned section, the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 36, Block XIII., Makuri Survey District, and the southern boundary of Section No. 40 of the said Block XIII. to Makuri Township: all in Pahiatua County, Land District of Wellington; as the said roads are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12404, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Land District of Wellington, and thereon marked in red.

Ceylon Elk protected under the Animals Protection Acts.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, Ceylon elk (Cervus aristotelis) shall come within the operation of the said Acts as fully and effectually as if they had been included in the Third Schedule to the said "Animals Protection Act, 1880."

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.
