DESCRIPTION OF THE LAND REFERRED TO IN THE FORE-
GOING REPORT.

All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
containing by admeasurement 3 acres, more or less, situated
in Block X., Mongonui Survey District. Bounded towards
the north-east by a right line bearing S. 45° 45′ E., 548 links,
from a point 13326·5 links south and 1 link east of Trig.
Station 1603; towards the south-east by a right line bearing
S. 44° 15′ W., 548 links; towards the south-west by a right
line bearing N. 45° 45′ W., 548 links; and towards the north-
west by a right line bearing N. 44° 15′ E., 548 links.

persons named hereunder, whose claims, upon investigation,
have been established.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Pig-iron from Ironsand
or Iron-ore.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will
be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of pig-
iron of marketable quality manufactured in the colony
after this date from magnetic or titaniferous ironsand or
iron-ore, all material, fuel, and fluxes being the produce
of New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to
say:—

  1. The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March,
  2. The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as
    each lot of 50 tons of iron is manufactured, on the certifi-
    cate of an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the
    iron is of good marketable quality.
  3. In the event of more than one person manufacturing
    the required quality of pig-iron before the date named,
    inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when,
    if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a
    bonus, the amount will be divided; but in no case shall the
    total amount of money paid by way of bonus exceed £500.
  4. The iron in respect of which any bonus is claimed and
    the ironsand or ore from which it is manufactured will be
    examined by the officer aforesaid, who may require proof
    that not only the ore, but that the lime, coal, and any other
    material used in the manufacture, is of genuine New Zealand
    production, and that sales of pig-iron have been made at
    fair market prices.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Salt.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 24th February, 1892.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will
be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of salt,
exclusively either by evaporation of salt-water or from rock
mined in the colony, on the following conditions, that is to
say:—

  1. The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March,

  2. Not more than £250 will be paid for salt manufactured
    in the North Island, and not more than £250 for salt manu-
    factured in the South Island.

  3. The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as each
    lot of 50 tons of salt is manufactured, on the certificate of
    an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the salt is
    of good marketable quality.

  4. In the event of more than one person manufacturing
    the stated quantity of salt in the North or South Islands
    respectively before the 31st March, 1893, inquiry will be
    made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found
    that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus in either
    the North Island or the South Island, the amount will be
    divided, but in no case shall more than £250 be paid for salt
    manufactured in the North Island and £250 for salt manu-
    factured in the South Island.

  5. The salt in respect of which any bonus is claimed, and
    the material used in its manufacture will be examined by
    the officer aforesaid, who may require proof that the salt is of
    genuine New Zealand production, and that sales have been
    made at fair market prices.

Civil Service Senior Examination.

IN pursuance of regulations under "The Civil Service
Reform Act, 1886," notice is hereby given that for the
Senior Examination of January, 1894, the period of literature
will be the reign of Queen Anne, and the special books will
be Shakespeare's King Henry V. and Lamb's Essays of Elia.

Altering Rules of the Native Land Court, made under
"The Native Land (Validation of Titles) Act, 1892."

WHEREAS by "The Native Land Court Act, 1886," as
amended by "The Native Land Court Act 1886
Amendment Act, 1888," and "The Native Land Court Acts
Amendment Act, 1889," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, subject to the
approval of the Governor in Council, from time to time to
make rules for regulating the sittings, practice, forms, and
procedure of the Court, and for the government of all persons
acting under the said first-mentioned Act, and for fixing the
fees to be paid under the said first-mentioned Act, the time
and mode of payment, and for enforcing the payment thereof,
and such rules from time to time by other rules to alter or
revoke: And whereas by "The Native Land (Validation of
Titles) Act, 1892," it is enacted that the said last-mentioned
Act shall be read together with "The Native Land Court
Act, 1886," and the several Acts amending the same: And
whereas on the second day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-two, certain regulations purporting to
be additional rules of the Native Land Court, and num-
bered one hundred and seven to one hundred and seventeen
inclusive, were duly made and approved under the authority
aforesaid for the purpose of regulating the procedure with
regard to applications under "The Native Lands (Valida-
tion of Titles) Act, 1892:" And whereas it is expedient to
amend and alter the said rules in manner hereinafter ap-
pearing:
Now, therefore, I, George Boulflower Davy, the Chief
Judge of the Native Land Court, in exercise of the powers
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby rescind and annul
rule one hundred and ten of the said additional regulations,
and in lieu thereof make the regulation following:—
It shall be the duty of the Registrar of the Court in
the District of Wellington forthwith to cause such applica-
tion, or a concise notice thereof, specifying with reasonable
certainty the land to be affected thereby, and (so far as can
be ascertained from such application) the names of the per-
sons interested, to be printed in the New Zealand Gazette in
the English language, and in the Maori in the Maori
language; and, if the land mentioned in the said application
is situate in the district of the Registrar of the Native Land
Court of Auckland or Gisborne, the said Registrar of the
District of Wellington shall forward one of the duplicate
applications, together with copies for distribution of the
Gazette or Maori, or of an extract therefrom, containing
the application or notice so printed as aforesaid, to the
Registrar of the district in which such land is situate. The
other duplicate application shall be recorded and retained in
the office of the said Registrar of the District of Wellington.
The above regulation shall be read together with the regu-
lations made as aforesaid on the 2nd day of November, 1892.
