Pastoral Runs in Canterbury for Lease by Public Auction
District Land and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 21st April, 1893.
NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned
pastoral runs will be submitted to public auction, at
the local Land and Survey Office, Timaru, on Wednesday,
the 28th June, 1893, at 11 a.m.
SCHEDULE.
PASTORAL LICENSES UNDER "THE LAND ACT, 1892."

and Orari Stations).

Peel Station IV.
Description and Locality of Run.
This run comprises two sections, which are situated about
two miles and four miles respectively north of Mount Peel
Homestead, about twenty miles from Geraldine, on the
banks of the Rangitata River. They comprise well-grassed
flats, terraces, and hill lands of fair quality, stony in places,
and well watered. The elevation ranges from 1,000ft. to
1,500ft. The southern section is accessible by a formed
road. The run is very suitable for occupation by a small
grazier.

Station Peaks XVI.
Description and Locality of Run.
This run is situated adjacent to Mr. Tripp's Orari Home-
stead, about twelve miles from Geraldine, and comprises
hilly land, intersected by gullies and rocky in places. Part
of the run is well grassed with native and English grasses,
and about one-third of the area is covered with scrub and
bush. The soil is generally of good quality, and the block is
well watered by several streams. The elevation ranges from
1,000ft. to 2,600ft. This run, except for the extent of
fencing required, is suitable for occupation by a small
grazier.

CONDITIONS.
-
Possession of the runs will be given to the purchasers of
the licenses on the day of sale. -
No person or company may become the holder of more
than one run under Part VI. of "The Land Act, 1892":
Provided that the holder of any run under the said Act of a
carrying-capacity of less than ten thousand sheep or two
thousand head of cattle may become the lessee of an aggre-
gate area sufficient to carry such a number of sheep or
cattle. The holder of any small grazing-run under Part V.
of "The Land Act, 1892," shall not be the holder of any
run under Part VI. of the said Act. -
The license shall be dated on the 1st March, 1894, and
shall include in addition the whole period between the date
of possession and the said 1st March, 1894. -
The license shall be subject to the following conditions,
amongst others:—
That if the licensee or any person claiming an interest
through or under him shall make or cause to be made any
agreement or contract, or shall give or cause to be given or
taken any negotiable security, for the purpose of defeating or
evading the provisions of, or shall in any way whatsoever
directly or indirectly commit or be privy to a fraud upon,
"The Land Act, 1892," the license shall be liable to be
forfeited and revoked:
That the licensee shall prevent the destruction or burning
of timber or bush on the land comprised in the license:
That the licensee shall prevent the growth or spread of
gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the
license, and shall with all reasonable speed remove or cause
to be removed all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious
weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner:
and
That the licensee shall destroy all rabbits on the land
comprised in the license, and shall prevent their increase or
spread, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner or an officer
appointed by him to inspect the ground. -
The licensee shall have the exclusive right of pasturage
over the lands specified in his license, but shall have no
right to the soil, or timber, or minerals thereon or therein. -
One half-year's rent and a license-fee of £1 1s. shall be
paid on the fall of the hammer, and the purchaser shall
make a declaration in terms of section 195 of "The Land
Act, 1892." The rent shall be paid half-yearly in advance,
on the 1st day of March and the 1st day of September in
each year during the term of the license. Should the half-
yearly rental at any period not be paid within thirty days, a
penalty of 10 per cent. in addition will be enforced. -
No liability is accepted by or on behalf of the Crown in
respect of any fencing at present existing upon the Crown
lands offered for license.
DECLARATION.
I, , of , do solemnly and sincerely
declare—

That I am the person who, subject to the provisions
of "The Land Act, 1892," am desirous of becoming the pur-
chaser of a lease or license of pastoral lands. -
That I am purchasing the lease or license of such land
solely for my own use and benefit, and not directly or in-
directly for the use or benefit of any other person or persons
whomsoever. -
That I am not the holder of any lease or license in any
part of the colony, nor have I any interest in any lease or
license in contravention of section 193 of the said Act. -
That I am not the holder of a small grazing-run in any
part of the colony, nor have I any interest in any such run.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believ-
ing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Justices
of the Peace Act, 1882."
