  1. Each applicant shall state his or her residence, occu-
    pation, and condition in life (namely, whether married or
    single), and will be required to make the declaration pre-
    scribed in Schedule C to the said Act.

  2. Each applicant shall also deposit the first half-year’s
    rent, together with the lease and registration fee, as pro-
    vided in the 63rd section of the said Act.

  3. All rents must be paid half-yearly, in advance, on the
    first days of January and July in each year, as provided in
    section 157 of the said Act; and the first half-year’s rent
    is payable as before provided.

  4. Improvements and residence on the land comprised in
    each lease shall be as provided in Part III. of the said Act.
    The provisions of section 144, and all other provisions of the
    said Act with respect to substantial improvements, shall
    apply accordingly to lessees under these regulations. The
    provisions of section 141, and all other provisions of the said
    Act in respect of compulsory residence, shall apply accord-
    ingly to lessees under these regulations.

  5. No lessee shall subdivide, sublet, or transfer the land
    held by him under these regulations, except under and sub-
    ject to the provisions of Part I. of the said Act.

  6. No lessee shall hold more than one allotment, includ-
    ing that already held, and such allotment shall be held for
    his sole use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any
    other person whomsoever. No married woman shall be
    eligible as a selector; but this provision shall not apply to
    any married woman who may become a transferee under a
    will or by virtue of an intestacy.

  7. All the provisions of the said Act, so far as applicable,
    shall extend and apply to the lands affected by these regula-
    tions, and to the applications and leases to be made and
    issued thereunder, and generally to the interests created,
    and the persons whose rights, liabilities, or interests are
    thereby affected; and the mention of any particular provi-
    sion of the said Act shall not be deemed to exclude any
    other provision of the said Act applicable to the particular
    case.

Vesting Reserves in the Mangere Road Board.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day
of June, 1893.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
were permanently reserved for the purposes and on
the dates specified in the said Schedule:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is ex-
pedient to vest the said lands in the inhabitants of the
Mangere Road District:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section
of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare
that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves
mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in
the inhabitants of the Mangere Road District, and under
the control and management of the Board of such district,
in trust for the purposes specified in the said Schedule.

Wellington Hospital Convalescent Home incorporated.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth
day of June, 1893.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS a petition, in terms of sections forty-two
and forty-three of “The Hospitals and Charitable
Institutions Act, 1885,” has been presented to His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand from not less
than fifty subscribers to the Wellington Convalescent Home
praying that the said institution may be incorporated as a
separate institution under the said Act: And whereas, the
District Board having lodged with the Colonial Secretary,
prior to the presentation of the said petition to His Excel-
lency the Governor, a copy of a resolution passed by the said
Board objecting to the incorporation of the said institution
as a separate institution, on the ground that the said institu-
tion is not required, the Colonial Secretary required the
District Board and the petitioners respectively to appoint a
Commissioner to inquire into the case, and appointed James
Crosby Martin, Esquire, the Resident Magistrate of the dis-
trict where the said institution is situate, to sit with the
Commissioners aforesaid upon such inquiry: And whereas
the said Commissioners sat as a Court of Inquiry in the said
case, and found that the said Wellington Convalescent Home
is required, and duly reported their decision to the Colonial
Secretary on the twentieth day of May last: And whereas it
appears expedient to make provision in the manner herein-
after set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
“The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” doth
hereby declare the contributors for the time being to the
said institution to be a body politic and corporate by the
style and title of “The Wellington Hospital Convalescent
Home Contributors.”

Native Land proposed to be taken for Construction of Beacons and Leading-lights near Gisborne.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of April, 1893.

Present:

The Honourable W. P. Reeves presiding in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work authorised
to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the construc-
tion of beacons on which leading-lights for the Port of Gis-
borne are to be erected:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners under a title which is not derived from the Crown:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the
thirteenth section of “The Public Works Acts Amendment
Act, 1887,” and of all other powers in anyway enabling him
in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that
the public work above mentioned shall be constructed on the
land described in general terms in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

BEACON-SITE AT POVERTY BAY.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, situated in
Block VII., Turanganui Survey District, containing by
admeasurement 3 roods 1 perch, more or less, being a strip
of land 50 links wide, the centre-line of which commences at
a point in Wai-o-hi-harore No. 1 Block distant 9691 links
north and 5541 links west of Trig. Station No. 108 (Kaiti);
and proceeds on a bearing of S. 19° 6′ 35″ E., over two
beacon-pegs, to the high-water mark of Poverty Bay, the
above strip of land being intersected by a public road 1 chain
wide: as the same is more particularly delineated on the
plan marked S.G. 18212, deposited in the Head Office, Depart-
ment of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Land Dis-
trict of Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
