The following remarks apply to the four principal boroughs only: The births in May were 239, against 173 in April, an increase of 66. The deaths amounted to 78, against 113 in April, a decrease of 35. There were 9 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: 3 males of 74, 75, and 79, and one female of 74 died at Auckland; 1 male of 72 at Wellington; 1 male of 75 at Christchurch; 2 males of 65 and 69, and one female of 71, at Dunedin.
