CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST CLASS LAND—continued.

These sections are situated within the embanked area at Lake Ellesmere, south-east of Greenpark, on the Little River Railway, and comprise generally low-lying flat land, with sandy soil of fair quality; the vegetation being generally inferior, except on the higher parts, where self-sown rye is found. The land is suited for grazing but not for cropping, the lower portions being subject to floods.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three.
