Notice of Request to amend Specification.
Patent Office,
Wellington, 16th February, 1893.
A REQUEST to be allowed to amend the specification
relating to the under-mentioned application for Letters
Patent has been received, and is open to public inspection at
this office. Any person may, at any time within one month
from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing, in
duplicate, of opposition to the amendment, stating in such
notice the particular grounds of objection. A fee of 10s.
is payable with such notice:—
No. 4693.—James Keir, of Ashburton, New Zealand,
Machinist. An invention entitled "Keir's Chaff- and Cav-
ing-fan, for removing Chaff and Cavings from Threshing-
machines."
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows,
viz.:—
- By inserting the figure "1" and the words "The use
of" before the words "A fan" in the first claim. - By inserting the figure "2" and the letter "(A)" before
the words "A fan" in the first part of the second claim, and
by striking out the words "chaff or" after the word "deliver-
ing" in the said first part, also by inserting the letter "(B)"
before the word "the" in the second part of the second
claim.
The applicant gives as his reason for seeking to make the
desired amendments "that the figures, letters, and words
proposed to be inserted in the claims were omitted therefrom
by inadvertence; and that the words 'chaff or' were in-
serted in the second claim by a clerical error; and that the
amended claims will render the nature of the invention more
clearly apparent."
