Rural Lands in the Hawke's Bay Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the fourteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

Section 11, bush-covered land; level and undulating towards the south-east, remainder hilly and slightly broken country; forest consists of mixed timber, chiefly rimu, red and black birch, &c.; soil of an average quality, partly of a light description overlying gravel, the rest consists of loamy and clay land, well watered; about 20 acres have been felled, and are now partly covered with new growth; within two miles of a fairly good dray-road to Ongaonga. Section 13, level and undulating land towards the north; in other respects same as Section 11, except that no portion has been felled.

Hilly, pastoral country, covered with light bush, on the banks of the Motu River. The section fronts the Gisborne-Opotiki Road, at the Motu Bridge, and is about two miles distant from the Motu Village site.

Members of the New Zealand Institute appointed.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The New Zealand Institute Act, 1867," provision is made for the appointment of members of a Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute, and it is enacted that on the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and on the first day of November in each succeeding year, three members of the said Board of Governors shall retire from office, but shall be eligible for reappointment: And whereas the Honourable Walter Baldock Durant Mantell, William Thomas Locke Travers, Esquire, and Edward Tregear, Esquire, three of the members of the said Board of Governors, have retired from office under the provisions of the said Act: And whereas by the said Act it is also provided that, on the annual retirement of three members as aforesaid, the successors of such retiring members shall be appointed by the Governor:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint

to be Governors of the institution called the New Zealand Institute.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the eighth section of "The Justices of the Peace Act Amendment Act, 1888," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

JABEZ FITNESS,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under "The Post Office Act, 1881," at Tokatoka, is authorised to take

and receive statutory declarations under the two hundred and thirty-fourth section of "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882."
