Examination of Mine Managers and Engine-drivers.

A N examination of candidates for certificates as First- and Second-class Mine Managers and Engine-drivers under "The Mining Act, 1891," and "The Coal-mines Act, 1891," will be held on the 24th January, 1893, and three following days, at places to be hereafter named. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1, must be addressed to "The Secretary of the Board of Examiners under the Mining Act or Coal-mines Act, Wellington," and must be received before the 1st January, 1893, or they will not be dealt with until the following examination.

Civil Service Senior Examination.

I N pursuance of regulations under "The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886," notice is hereby given that for the Senior Examination of January, 1894, the period of literature will be the reign of Queen Anne, and the special books will be Shakespeare's King Henry V. and Lamb's Essays of Elia.

Tenders for Telegraph Messengers' Overcoats.

General Post Office,

T ENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until the 28th December, 1892, for the manufacture within the colony of Telegraph Messengers' Overcoats.

Samples of garment may be seen at the Chief Post Offices, Thames, New Plymouth, Gisborne, Wanganui, Nelson, Westport, Hokitika, Greymouth, Blenheim, Timaru, Oamaru, Invercargill, and at the Telegraph Offices at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, where, also, specifications may be obtained.

Tenders, quoting price for each garment, accompanied by samples of material, to be addressed to the Secretary, General Post Office, Wellington, and indorsed outside "Tender for Messengers' Overcoats."

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
