Setting apart Land in the Southland Land District for Leasing as a Small Grazing-run under “The Land Act, 1892.”

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the one hundred and seventy-second section of “The Land Act, 1892,” and of every other power enabling me in that behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the sections of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of sections one hundred and seventy-three to one hundred and eighty-six of Part V. of “The Land Act, 1892,” relating to small grazing-runs.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Run No. 2, Section No. 74, Wairaki Survey District; 1,193 acres. Rent per annum, £14 18s. 3d.

Rather broken country, well watered; altitude above sea-level varies from 900ft. to 1,200ft.; accessible by road from Nightcaps Railway-station, and distant therefrom from sixteen to eighteen miles; 500 acres agricultural, rest pastoral; very cold clay soil, covered with fern and tussock.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.

Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

GLASGOW, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Premier’s residence, at Wellington, this twentieth day of October, 1892.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor in Council by Tare Warahi, the Native owner of the lands described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such lands contained in the Land Transfer certificate bearing date the second day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court, and the said Court has reported that the provisions of the law in that behalf have been complied with: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by “The Native Land Act, 1888,” and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Land Transfer certificate on the alienation of the said lands are hereby removed.

SCHEDULE.

FIRST COLUMN.
Particulars of Grant or Instrument containing Restrictions.

Certificate of title under Land Transfer Act, dated 2nd September, 1892, issued by the District Land Registrar of the Land Registration District of Wellington, in favour of Taare Warahi, and containing the following restrictions: “Inalienable by sale or mortgage, or by lease beyond twenty-one years.”

SECOND COLUMN.
Description of Lands.

All those parcels of land in the District of Wellington, containing 1 rood 11 perches, being Subdivision 1 of Section 4, and 1 rood 11 perches, being Subdivision 1 of Section 6, Polhill Gully Native Reserve.
