This section is situated on the Waitohi Hills, near Maori Gully; and comprises rough hilly land of poor quality, mostly covered with manuka scrub; well watered.

Light stony river-bed land, fairy well grassed, with early-spring feed. On patches the soil is a little deeper, and there is more herbage, but on other parts there are patches of light manuka, with poorer soil. Water-races cross the land.

Very stony land on the Cracroft Run, interspersed throughout with fair soil, difficult to break up, and not suitable for grain-growing, but good turnip crops and fair grass can be obtained.
