THE following special orders, made by the Woodville Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDERS MADE BY THE WOODVILLE ROAD BOARD ON THE 7TH MARCH, 1892.

That a special rate of ½d. in the pound be struck on Sections Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block XIV., Woodville Survey District, to meet the interest and charges on a loan of £85 for the Saddle Road; such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for the period of twenty-six years, and to be payable in one sum on the 1st day of December in each year.

That a special rate of thirteen-fiftieths of a penny in the pound be struck on Sections Nos. 14, 17, 18, 19, and 20, Block V., and Sections Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, Block XVI., Woodville Survey District, to meet the interest and charges on a loan of £65 for the Whatiti Road; such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for the period of twenty-six years, and to be payable in one sum on the 1st day of December in each year.
I certify that the above special orders have been duly passed as required by section 76 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

THE following special order, made by the Waikohu Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.—WAIPARA SPECIAL DISTRICT.
Notice is hereby given that this Board did, by special order, on Saturday, the 16th day of July, pass a resolution levying a special rate of 3½d. in the pound on the rateable value of Run 44A, being a special district for the purposes of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886.”
This rate is to be made to provide interest upon a sum of £120 to be obtained by loan, and is to be an annual rate for twenty-six years, commencing the 1st July, 1892, and ending on the 30th June, 1918, to be due and payable, in one sum in each year, on the 1st July.

RESULT OF POLL.
Borough of Greytown, 19th July, 1892.
Sir,—I have the honour to give you notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Greytown was taken, in accordance with the provisions of Part IX. of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” on the 2nd day of July, 1892, upon the proposal to raise a loan of £600 for the erection of a public library, reading-room, and Council chambers, and that the result of the poll was in favour of such resolution, as follows:—
Total number of voters, 151; total number of votes, 220. For the proposal—Number of votes polled, 119; number of voters, 84. Against the proposal—Number of votes polled, 10; number of voters, 8. Informal, 1.

I, Alexander Low Webster, of Greytown, in the Provincial District of Wellington, New Zealand, Town Clerk, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the proposal to raise a loan of £600 for the purpose of erecting a public library, reading-room, and Council chambers have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Bonus for the Manufacture of Pig-iron from Ironsand or Iron-ore.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of pig-iron of marketable quality manufactured in the colony after this date from magnetic or titaniferous ironsand or iron-ore, all material, fuel, and fluxes being the produce of New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March, 1893.

The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as each lot of 50 tons of iron is manufactured, on the certificate of an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the iron is of good marketable quality.

In the event of more than one person manufacturing the required quality of pig-iron before the date named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided; but in no case shall the total amount of money paid by way of bonus exceed £500.

The iron in respect of which any bonus is claimed and the ironsand or ore from which it is manufactured will be examined by the officer aforesaid, who may require proof that not only the ore, but that the lime, coal, and any other material used in the manufacture, is of genuine New Zealand production, and that sales of pig-iron have been made at fair market prices.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Salt.

Wellington, 24th February, 1892.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1 per ton will be paid on the production of the first 500 tons of salt, exclusively either by evaporation of salt-water or from rock mined in the colony, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

The bonus must be claimed before the 31st March, 1893.

Not more than £250 will be paid for salt manufactured in the North Island, and not more than £250 for salt manufactured in the South Island.

The bonus will be payable in instalments of £50 as each lot of 50 tons of salt is manufactured, on the certificate of an officer appointed by the Minister of Mines that the salt is of good marketable quality.

In the event of more than one person manufacturing the stated quantity of salt in the North or South Islands respectively before the 31st March, 1893, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus in either the North Island or the South Island, the amount will be divided, but in no case shall more than £250 be paid for salt manufactured in the North Island and £250 for salt manufactured in the South Island.

The salt in respect of which any bonus is claimed and the material used in its manufacture will be examined by the officer aforesaid, who may require proof that the salt is of genuine New Zealand production, and that sales have been made at fair market prices.
