Lease of Reserves to be sold at Auction.

District Land and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 16th May, 1892.

IT is hereby notified, in terms of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” that the leases of the under-mentioned reserves will be offered for sale by public auction, at this office, on Tuesday, the 5th July, 1892, at 11 o’clock a.m. Three months’ rent to the 1st October, 1892, must be paid on the fall of the hammer. The term of lease will in each case be for seven years, subject to the right of the Crown to terminate each lease by a year’s notice if the land is required by the Government for any purpose:—

Reserve 61, situated at Adderley Head, Port Lyttelton; area, 323 acres; upset annual rental, £40 7s. 6d. Access to this reserve can only be obtained by water. The land occupied by the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s pilot-station in Little Port Cooper, the site of the look-out house on the head, and right-of-way between the two are reserved from lease.

Cemetery Reserve, No. 62A, at Camp Bay, Port Lyttelton; area, 30 acres; upset annual rental, £3 15s. The lessee will be required to fence off the graves on the point within the reserve.

The lessees will have the right of occupying and using the lands for grazing purposes, but will be prohibited from cropping the same.

Temporary Grazing-lease, Canterbury Land District.

This section is situated at Coutts Island, about a quarter of a mile east of the post-office of that name.

These reserves are situated in the Township of South Rakaia, and will be let on a yearly tenancy, renewable by the Land Board from year to year for a period of seven years, unless the land is required by Government for any purpose. The lessees will have the right of occupying and using the lands for grazing purposes, but will be prohibited from cropping the same.

This reserve is situated in the bed of the Rakaia River, adjoining the properties of the New Zealand and Australian Land Company and Mr. P. H. Cannon, to the north-westward of Dobbin’s Ford. The term of lease will be seven years, subject to the right of the Crown to terminate it by a year’s notice if the land is required by Government for any purpose. The lessee will have the right of occupying and using the land for grazing purposes, but will be prohibited from cropping the same.

This section is situated immediately below the high terrace on the south-west side of the south branch of the Ashburton River. It has frontage on the Shepherd’s Bush Road, about one and three-quarter miles north-east of the Westerfield Railway-station, and is distant about eight miles in a north-westerly direction from the Town of Ashburton. The section comprises soil of fair quality, but is liable to flood.

A deposit of one-fifth of the purchase-money shall be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, together with a Crown-grant fee of £1, within thirty days thereafter, or the deposit will be forfeited and the sale cancelled.

There are no restrictions or limitations incumbent upon purchasers of cash lands at auction.
