A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority vested in him by the second section of “The Land and Income Assessment Act, 1891,” His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby proclaim and determine that, on the thirty-first day of May now instant, “The Property Assessment Act, 1885,” and “The Property Assessment Act 1885 Amendment Act, 1886,” shall be repealed.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, the Administrator of the Government of Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two.

Prescribing a Close Season for Seals.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of May, 1892.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations (which shall have force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein) for prescribing, among other things, a close season or close seasons for seals:
And whereas it is provided by the third section of “The Fisheries Conservation Act 1884 Amendment Act, 1887,” that a penalty not exceeding five hundred pounds may be imposed in respect of the breach of any regulations respecting seals, and a further penalty of not exceeding twenty pounds for every seal illegally taken:
And whereas it is expedient to make the regulations hereinafter set forth with respect to seals inhabiting or found within the waters of the colony hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act and “The Fisheries Conservation Act 1884 Amendment Act, 1887,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and with the like advice and consent doth order that such regulations shall have force and effect throughout the Colony of New Zealand, and in all salt, fresh, and brackish waters of the colony, and on all shores of such waters or any part thereof.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS.

THE months of June, July, August, September, October, November, and December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, are hereby prescribed as a close season for seals.

No person shall buy, sell, expose for sale, or have in possession any seal, or the skins, oil, or blubber of any seal, taken during the close season hereby prescribed for the same.

Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable to a penalty of not less than five pounds and not exceeding five hundred pounds, and a further penalty of not exceeding twenty pounds for every seal illegally taken.

Every penalty imposed by these regulations shall be recovered in a summary manner before any two or more Justices of the Peace.

Notification of Vacancy of Seat in the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Rangitikei.
IN compliance with the provisions of the 61st section of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” I hereby notify that
DOUGLAS HASTINGS MACARTHUR, Esq.,
a Member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral District of Rangitikei, died on the 24th day of May, 1892, and that the said seat in the House of Representatives for the said electoral district is vacant by reason of such death.
