Commissioner’s Decisions under Tariff Acts.

Department of Trade and Customs,
Wellington, 3rd February, 1892.

IT is hereby notified, for public information, that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret “The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1898,” in relation to the under-mentioned articles as follow:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

Articles, and how classed. Rate of Duty.
Alloy, dental; as n.o.e. Free.
Ammonia, anhydrous; as n.o.e Free.
Cream-separator, endles cord belt for; as n.o.e. Free.
Desk, cabinet, with table and drawers; as cabinetware n.o.e. 25 per cent.
*French polish; as varnish 1/6 the gal.

THE following decisions of the Hon. the Commissioner were omitted from the new edition of the Customs Tariff and Commissioner’s Decisions, published in November, 1891:—

Articles, and how classed. Rate of Duty.
Brass tubing, polished; as brass manufactures n.o.e. 20 per cent.
Horse-cover lining, grey and brown (when 72in. wide and at or under 1s. the yard); as a. & m.s. Free.
Pinones; as nuts of all kinds except cocoa-nuts 2d. the lb.
Post-hole digger, Eclipse; as hardware 20 per cent.
Spray-producer, steam (Lister’s); as n.o.e. Free.
Water-motor, for driving electrical machinery; as machinery n.o.e. 20 per cent.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Trust Commissioner will, under the authority and for the purposes of the said Acts, hold a Court at the Resident Magistrate’s Court-house, at High Street, Auckland, on the 7th day of March, 1892, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, for investigating the cases mentioned in the Schedule hereunder, at which time and place all persons having objections to any of the dealings are hereby notified to attend.

Crown Lands Notices.

Land District of Canterbury.—Pastoral Lease of Black Forest Station to be sold at Auction.

Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 30th January, 1892.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of the Land Acts, that the pastoral lease of the under-mentioned run will be offered for sale by public auction, at this office, on Tuesday, the 16th February, 1892, at 12 o’clock noon:—

Run 68, Black Forest Station, Waimate County, about 20,800 acres; term of lease, nineteen years. Upset rental, £460 per annum.

This run is good sound sheep-country, and comprises about 4,000 acres of flat, on the Waitaki River; the remainder consisting of low hills, well grassed and watered.

Six months’ rent must be paid at the time of sale, and possession will be given on the 1st March, 1892. Subsequent payments of rent must be made half-yearly in advance, on the 1st March and the 1st September.
