HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the under-mentioned persons to be Inspectors of Factories and Work-rooms, under “The Factories Act, 1891,” and to assign to them the districts set opposite their names respectively, viz.:-

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the under-mentioned promotions and appointments in the New Zealand Militia and Volunteer Forces:-
New Zealand Militia.
Major Forster Yelverton Goring, New Zealand Militia, Commanding Auckland Militia and Volunteer District, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Date of commission, 17th January, 1891.
Major Stewart Newall, New Zealand Militia, Commanding Taranaki, Wanganui, Wairarapa, and Wellington Militia and Volunteer Districts, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Date of commission, 18th January, 1891.
New Zealand Volunteers.
Major James Alexander Bonar, New Zealand Volunteers, Commanding Westland Militia and Volunteer District, to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Date of commission, 19th December, 1891.
East Coast Hussar Volunteers.
John Henry Colbourne to be Lieutenant. Date of commission, 19th October, 1891.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loans, Ekatahuna Road Board, County of Wairarapa North.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Ekatahuna Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

MAKAKAHI ROAD NORTH.
THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Road Board Office, Ekatahuna, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £400 for formation and bush-felling on Makakahi Road North:-
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 5; number of pollable votes, 5; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 3, exercising 3 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, none.
As the number of ratepayers who voted, and the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, are in each case a majority of the total numbers on the roll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following is the result of a poll taken at the Road Board Office, Ekatahuna, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £125 for building a bridge on the Tawatai Road:-
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 4; number of pollable votes, 4; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 3, exercising 3 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, none.
As the number of ratepayers who voted, and the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, are in each case a majority of the total number on the roll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

SIR,—I have the honour to inform you that a poll was taken of the burgesses of the Borough of Greytown upon a proposal to raise a loan of £350, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of building a public library and Council chamber, on the 12th day of December, and the result was that the proposal was declared by me to be carried.

FORM OF DECLARATION UNDER “THE JUSTICES OF THE PEACE ACT, 1882.”
I, RICHARD ALFRED WAKELIN, of Greytown North, Saw-miller, Mayor of the Borough of Greytown, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the proposal to borrow £350, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of building a public library and Council chamber, have been duly taken, and the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
Made and subscribed at Greytown, in the Colony of New Zealand, this 21st day of December, in the year of our Lord, 1891.

THE following notice, received from His Worship the Mayor of Cromwell, is published in accordance with “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers, taken on Saturday, the 12th day of December, 1891, under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” on the proposal to raise a loan of £600 for the purpose of increasing the water-supply of the borough, &c., the following was the result of the poll:-
Total number of votes on the roll, 96; voted for the proposal, 60; voted against the proposal, 0; total number of voters on roll, 81; total number of voters who polled, 45.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.
Dated at Cromwell, this 12th day of December, 1891.
