All that parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, in Blocks III. and VII., Motu Survey District, and containing by admeasurement 2,150 acres. Bounded towards the north-west by the Motu No. 3 Block; towards the east by the Ormond–Opotiki Road; and towards the south and east by Crown land.

Land set apart for Naval and Military and Volunteer Land Claims.


ONSLow, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the eighth section of “The Naval and Military Settlers’ and Volunteers’ Land Act, 1891,” I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the land described in the Schedule hereto for selection by the various holders of remission certificates issued under the authority of the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Waipoua Survey District, and containing approximately 5,575 acres. Bounded towards the north by Block VII., Waipoua Survey District; towards the east by Block XI. of the same survey district; towards the south by Block XII. of the same survey district; and towards the west generally by the sea and by the Waipoua No. 2 Block to the point of commencement: as the same is delineated on the official maps in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Parish of Waipa, and containing approximately 3,000 acres. Bounded towards the north generally by a public road, by Section No. 98 of the Parish of Waipa, and by the northern boundary of Sections Nos. 76 and 77 of the same parish; towards the east generally by a timber reserve, by Section No. 96 of the Parish of Waipa, and by a right line being the production of the western boundary of that section to the northern boundary of Block X., Newcastle Survey District; towards the south by the said Block X.; and towards the west by Block V., of the same survey district, to the point of commencement: as the same is delineated on the official maps in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland.

TARANAKI.

All that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,000 acres, more or less, situated in the Egmont Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 9, 10, and 13, Block XII., Egmont Survey District; towards the north-east by Derby Road; towards the south by Block IV., Kaupokonui Survey District; and towards the west by forest reserve.

MARLBOROUGH.

All that area in the Marlborough Land District, being parts of Blocks II. and III., Wakamarina Survey District, containing approximately 2,000 acres, being a strip of land one mile and a half in width, commencing at a point on the Rai River due north of Trig. Station F, in the said survey district, and extending up the Rai Valley for a distance of about two miles and a quarter; as the same is more particularly shown on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Blenheim.

CANTERBURY.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 653 acres 3 roods, more or less, situated in Blocks V. and IX., Westerfield Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 32367 and 32366; towards the north-east and again towards the north-west by Section No. 33020; again towards the north-east by Section No. 2259; towards the south-east by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 33092 and 33093; and towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 36113, 36174, and 36127.

OTAGO.

All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,900 acres, more or less, situated in Block IX., Woodland Survey District. Bounded on the north by a proposed road-line, being the south boundary of Block VI.; on the east by a village reserve in Block X., Woodland, and the main Catlin’s and Waikawa Road; on the south by Tahukupu Bay; and on the west by the Tahukupu River and partly by the Maclennan River: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin.


SOUTHLAND.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing 700 acres, more or less, being part of Block XXII., Invercargill Hundred, and part of Block VIII., Campbelltown Hundred; commencing at the north-west corner of Block VIII. aforesaid; thence along the south-west boundary of said Block VIII. for a distance of 6500 links; thence due east, 9500 links; thence due north, 1000 links; thence due west, 4300 links; thence due south, 1000 links; thence due west to the commencing-point, 8100 links.

Commissioners to classify and report to me upon the rural land in the Land District of Southland known as Runs Nos. 173C, 173A, 173B, 166B, 165, 156, 156A₂, 142, 133, 156A₁, 143B, 143A, 187A, 187B, 187C, 176A, 176B, in the Wallace County; and Runs Nos. 116A, 116B, 116C, 190A, 191C, 191B, in the Southland County; as provided by section nine of “The Land Acts Amendment Act, 1888,” aforesaid.

ONSLow, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The New Zealand Institute Act, 1867,” provision is made for the appointment of members of a Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute, and it is enacted that, on the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and on the first day of November in each succeeding year, three members of the said Board of Governors shall retire from office, but shall be eligible for reappointment: And whereas William Thomas Locke Travers, Esquire, William Miles Maskell, Esquire, and Thomas Mason, Esquire, three of the members of the said Board of Governors, have retired from office, and are eligible for reappointment under the provisions of the said Act: And whereas by the said Act it is also provided that, on the annual retirement of three members as aforesaid, the successors of such retiring members shall be appointed by the Governor:
