The following remarks apply only to the four principal boroughs: The births in October were 233, against 253 in September, a decrease of 20. The deaths amounted to 94, against 115 in September. There were 19 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: 5 males of 70, 74, 75, 77, and 78, and 2 females of 72 and 84, died at Auckland; 2 males of 67 and 74, and 2 females of 69 and 75, at Wellington; 1 male of 68, and 4 females of 67 (2), 74, and 75, at Christchurch; 2 males of 77 and 79, and a female of 73, at Dunedin.
