Diarrhoea caused 4 deaths in June, against 10 in May.

Constitutional Diseases.—These diseases caused 18 deaths in June, a decrease of 4 on the number in the previous month. There was a decrease in the number of deaths from cancer from 6 to 2, but phthisis was more fatal in June, having caused 11 deaths, against 9 in May.

Local Diseases.—The mortality from these diseases amounted to 50 deaths in May and 65 in June, the increase being due to the greater mortality from diseases of the circulatory system, an increase from 7 deaths to 14, and from diseases of the respiratory system, an increase from 14 deaths to 24. Bronchitis, with a death-toll of 7, was the most fatal among the diseases of the respiratory system. Pneumonia came next with 6 deaths.
