Land set apart for Village Homesteads in the Canterbury
Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

I N pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and sixty-second section of
"The Land Act, 1885," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby pro-
claim and declare that the sections of land described in the
Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart
and declared open for application as village homesteads for
perpetual leasing, upon the terms and conditions fixed by an
Order in Council issued on the twenty-seventh day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and
made under the one hundred and sixty-third section of the
said Act.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.

  • Survey District: Southbridge (Lot 1, Block I)
  • Survey District: Southbridge (Lot 2, Block I)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this ninth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
one.

Rural Land in the Southland Land District open for Sale
or Selection.

ONSLOW, Governor.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the third section of "The Land
Act Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is
provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection,
after the lapse of a period of not less than forty-five days
from the date of the first public notification hereof, in the
manner and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act,
and at the price per acre stated in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

FIRST-CLASS RURAL LAND.

Aparima Hundred:

  • Situated some two miles south-west of Otatau, on the eastern margin of Longwood Forest; mostly open. Subject to ยฃ6 valuation for survey.

New River Hundred:

  • Situate on eastern side of Invercargill-Kingston Railway-line, some four miles south of Winton. Land open and flat; soil passable, though with stiff clay subsoil.

Oteramika Hundred:

  • Situated some three and a half miles due south of Woodlands, abutting on the road Invercargill to Oteramika. Narrow frontage to road; land open.
  • Situated some six miles south-east of Woodlands. Land open and flattish; tussock-clad.
