Situated in the centre of a large tract of timber-country, of which about 12,000 acres are open for selection; the soil is generally good, and the sections partly flat; a reserve for an accommodation-house is now occupied, and the house is being built; the settlement is about fifty-five miles north-west of Gisborne, in the valley of the Motu River, and the main Ormond-Opotiki Road passes through it.

There are about 9 chains of fencing, and a hut on the section; it is situated on the banks of the Matamau River, about one mile from the railway-station.

Situated close to the Gisborne-Wairoa main road, about forty-two miles south-west from the former place. There is an hotel in the settlement. Generally undulating open fern land, and fair soil.

Examination and Allowance of Accounts of the Westport Harbour Board validated.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of June, 1891.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by the two hundred and thirty-third section of “The Harbours Act, 1878” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), that in any case in which, by any misadventure or accident, anything is at any time done after the time required by the said Act, or is otherwise irregularly done in matter of form, the Governor may, by Order in Council duly gazetted, from time to time make provision for any such case, or may extend the time within which anything is required to be done, or may validate anything so done after the time required or irregularly done in matter of form, so that the true intent and purpose of the said Act may have effect: And whereas it is provided by section one hundred and eighty two of the said Act that the accounts of a Harbour Board shall be produced at the annual meeting of the Board or some adjournment thereof, and shall, if found correct, be allowed by the Board and certified accordingly under the hand of the Chairman of the Board, or the person who shall act as Chairman at such meeting: And whereas the annual meeting of the Westport Harbour Board was adjourned from the nineteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, to the seventeenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, and was through misadventure allowed to lapse: And whereas the accounts of the said Board were examined and allowed, and certified accordingly under the hand of the Chairman at a meeting of the Board held on the twenty-second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one: And whereas it is expedient to validate the examination and allowance of the said accounts as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, doth hereby validate the examination and allowance of the Westport Harbour Board as aforesaid, and doth hereby declare that the examination and allowance thereof shall be as valid and effectual as if the irregularities hereinbefore mentioned had not taken place.

Rural Land in the Auckland Land District withdrawn from Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1885,” and the amendments thereof, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the notification issued on the thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, opening land for sale or selection under the provisions of “The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887,” shall be and the same is revoked in so far as it relates to the sections of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
