COUNTY OF WAITEMATA.
BY-LAW TO REGULATE TRAFFIC ON THE COUNTY ROADS.
BY-LAW of the Waitemata County Council, made by special order, dated the 3rd day of October, 1890, and confirmed on the 7th day of November, 1890:—
In pursuance of the powers vested in them under "The Counties Act, 1886," the Council of the County of Waitemata ordain as follows, that is to say: That between the 15th day of May and the 15th day of November in each year the weight carried by different vehicles within the county shall be as follows, viz.:—

Vehicles with tires over 4½in. and under 5½in. wide to carry not over 15cwt. on unmetalled roads, and not over 25cwt. on metalled roads, on each pair of wheels.

Vehicles with tires over 3½in. and under 4½in. wide to carry not over 12cwt. on unmetalled roads, and not over 1 ton on metalled roads, on each pair of wheels.
-
Vehicles with tires over 2½in. and under 3½in. wide to carry not more than 10cwt. on unmetalled roads, and not more than 15cwt. on metalled roads, on each pair of wheels.
-
Vehicles with tires over 2in. and under 2½in. wide to carry not more than 8cwt. on unmetalled roads, and not more than 12cwt. on metalled roads, on each pair of wheels.
-
Vehicles with tires under 2in. wide to carry not more than 5cwt. on unmetalled roads, and not more than 8cwt. on metalled roads, on each pair of wheels.

That no horses or vehicles be driven or led, or taken over any bridge of more than 10ft. span, at other than a walking-pace at any time.

The Council have decided that the weight of timber shall be as follows, viz.:—
That a measured ton of firewood weighs 14cwt.;
That 500ft. of superficial kauri weighs 15 cwt.;
That 500 superficial feet of puriri or green totara weighs a ton. -
For any offence under the above by-law the penalty to be not more than £5 for each offence, to be recoverable in a summary manner before two or more Justices of the Peace, under "The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882."
This by-law shall come into force within the county on the 1st day of May, 1891.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the County of Waitemata was impressed hereon and affixed thereto, by order of the said Council, on the 26th day of November, 1890, in the presence of—

In the matter of a Private Bill intituled "The Taranaki Aid Fund and Indemnity Act, 1891."
NOTICE is hereby given that the surviving members of the Managing Committee of "The Taranaki Aid Fund" intend to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at the ensuing session thereof, praying for leave to introduce a Bill enabling the above Committee to pay the sum of £1,667 19s. 9d. (being the amount which, on the 5th day of July, 1891, will be to the credit of the above fund at the Union Bank of Australia, Nelson) to three Trustees to be appointed for that purpose, upon trust to invest the above sum in public or Government securities, and to pay one-half the interest or income-moneys arising therefrom in equal shares to the Nelson Public Museum and Nelson Free Reading-room, and the other half thereof to the Nelson Aid Society. And notice is hereby further given that copies of the said Bill will be deposited at the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders at Wellington, at or within fourteen days after the beginning of the session.
