Extending Time for holding Elections, &c., Kaikoura River District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh
day of February, 1891.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE JOHN BALLANCE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the twenty-seventh section of “The
River Boards Act, 1884,” it is enacted that on the
second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-five, and on the same day in every third year
thereafter, all the members of the Board shall go out of
office, and a general election of members shall take place:
And whereas by misadventure no election was held on the
second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-one (being the day upon which an election should
have been held), to elect members to the Kaikoura River
Board:
And whereas by the forty-third section of the said Act it
is enacted, among other things, that the Governor, by Order
in Council notified in the Gazette, may extend the time
allowed for the holding of any election or meeting of the
Board, whether the day may have passed on which the
same ought to have been held or not:
And whereas it is expedient that the neglect to hold such
election as aforesaid should be remedied:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of all
powers enabling him in this behalf, and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby extend the time for holding the election of members
of the Kaikoura River Board to the twenty-first day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one; doth hereby
order and declare that William Smith shall be the Return-
ing Officer to conduct such election, and that the first meet-
ing of the said Board shall take place at the Road Board
Office at Kaikoura, on the twenty-fourth day of March next,
at the hour of two in the afternoon; and, lastly, that the pro-
visions of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” so
far as applicable, shall extend to the election to be held
hereunder.

dred and ninety-one; and doth hereby order and declare that
William Wills shall be the Returning Officer to conduct such
election, and that the first meeting of the Board shall take
place at Bradley’s Hotel, on Tuesday, the thirty-first day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-one, at
the hour of half-past two in the afternoon; and, lastly, that
the provisions of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act,
1876,” so far as applicable, shall extend to the election to be
held hereunder.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh

THE HONOURABLE JOHN BALLANCE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council bearing date the fourth
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-seven, certain regulations were made under the pro-
visions of “The Electric Lines Act, 1884,” providing, inter
alia, for receipts being given for moneys paid for telegrams
in certain cases: And whereas it appears expedient to
amend the said regulations, and to make provision as herein-
after mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers conferred by “The Electric Lines Act, 1884,”
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the
regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto, and doth hereby
order and declare that the above-recited regulations so made
as aforesaid shall be read and construed subject to the regu-
lation hereby made; and it is hereby further declared that
this Order in Council and the regulation hereby made shall
come into force on the date of the publication hereof in the
New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
THE fee of twopence heretofore charged for the receipt
demanded for the amount paid for a telegram is to be
restricted to inland messages. The receipts for the amounts
paid for international and intercolonial telegrams are to be
granted free of charge.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eleventh
day of February, 1891.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE JOHN BALLANCE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred by “The Electric Lines Act, 1884,” and of all
other powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby revoke the regulations made under the
said Act by Order in Council bearing date the seventeenth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-sixth
day of June of that year, and in lieu thereof doth hereby
make the regulations and fix the scale of charges set forth
in the Schedule hereto as the regulations to be observed and
the charges to be demanded and received respectively for
the use of Government telephones at bureau stations; and
it is hereby declared that this Order in Council shall come
into force and take effect on the day of publication hereof
in the New Zealand Gazette.
