THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Manawatu County Council, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT OF POLL.
THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 24th January, 1891, on a proposal to raise a loan of £1,750 under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments, for the purpose of—(a.) Forming and metalling the unfinished portion of the Campbelltown–Longburn Road, and half share of constructing a bridge over the Oroua River at termination of the said road (Campbell Riding), £1,100. (b.) Metalling unfinished portion of the Taipo–Awahuri Road (Waitohi Riding), £250. (c.) Metalling on Sandon–Carnarvon Road (Carnarvon and Kawakawa Ridings), £400. Total, £1,750.
Number of ratepayers on roll, 185; number of votes exercisable, 250; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 99; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 123; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal is less than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, I declare the proposal rejected.

THE following special orders, made by the Mauriceville Road Board, are published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT a special rate of 6¾d. in the pound be made and levied on the rateable value of Sections 203, Block I., 204, 205, Block II., all in the Kopuaranga Survey District, for the repayment of a loan of £200, borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the construction of Broderson’s Bridge over the Kopuaranga at Mauriceville Railway-station. Said rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, or until the loan is paid off, and shall be paid in two half-yearly instalments on the 1st January and the 1st July in each year.
I certify that the foregoing special order was made according to law.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £1,600, borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of constructing Dreyer’s Rock Road Extension and Wangaehu Road, a special rate of 3d. in the pound be made and levied on the rateable value of the following sections: 16, 19, Block II.; 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, Block III.; 103, Blocks III., VII.; 208, 209, Block VI.; 106, 118, Block VII., all in the Kopuaranga Survey District. Such special rate shall be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, or until the loan is repaid, and shall be paid in two half-yearly instalments on the 1st January and the 1st July in each year.
I certify that the above special order has been duly made.

THE following special order, made by the Waitotara-Momohaki Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special rate of 4½d. in the pound be made on the value of all properties in the Omahine-Momohaki Special Rating District, for the purpose of paying interest and charges on a loan of £3,000, to be borrowed under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the opening up and constructing the following road-lines: Ngutuera, £500; Waikare and Mangaone, £850; Omata, £350; Mangawhio, £300; Werewereonga, £300; River Bank Sections Road, £700: total, £3,000. Such rate to be an annual-recurring one for a period of twenty-six years, and to be paid in equal instalments half-yearly on the 1st day of April and October in each and every year.

That the first year’s interest, and cost of raising the loan, shall be paid out of the loan.

That the boundaries of the special rating district are as follows: Commencing at Waitotara River, on the south boundary of Block I., Nukumaru Survey District; thence due west through the University endowment to south-west corner of Block I., Nukumaru Survey District; thence due north by east boundary of Section 20, Block IV., Wairoa Survey District, to public road; thence westerly by public road to the south-west boundary of Section 19; thence by southern boundaries of Sections 19 and 17; thence south-easterly to the south-east corner of Section 16; thence due west by south boundary of Section 16; thence due north to north-east corner of Section 8, Block IV., Omahine Survey District; thence due west by south boundary of Section 28 to a public road; thence north-westerly by the said road to the boundary of the Provincial Districts of Wellington and Taranaki; thence north-east by provincial boundary to the boundary-line of confiscated lands; thence south-easterly by confiscated boundary-line to Waitotara River; thence generally south-west, following the bends of the Waitotara River, to the starting-point.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made by the Waitotara-Momohaki Road Board, as required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the power in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby appoint that
JERVOIS QUAY, from the 35-ton crane south,
CUSTOMHOUSE QUAY, from Brandon Street to Waterloo Quay, and
WATERLOO QUAY, from Customhouse Quay to the Wool Jetty,
shall be sufferance wharves at the Port of Wellington for the loading and unloading of free and duty-paid goods and New Zealand produce; and that the under-mentioned buildings shall be places where goods may be deposited for examination on the landing thereof, viz.:
Wharf-sheds constructed of Wood and roofed with Iron.
Seven situated on the Queen’s Wharf, marked A, B, C, D, E, G, H.
Two situated on Jervois Quay, marked M, N.
One situated on the Wool Jetty, marked L.
