Removal of Restrictions on Alienation of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of January, 1891.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS application has been made to the Governor in Council by Hori Karaka, the Native owner of the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such land contained in the Crown grant, bearing date the third day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may be removed: And whereas inquiry has been duly made by the Native Land Court in respect of the subject-matter of the said application, and the said Court has reported thereon to His Excellency the Governor: And whereas it appears expedient to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by “The Native Land Act, 1888,” and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the alienation of the said lands are hereby removed.

FIRST COLUMN. SECOND COLUMN.
Particulars of Grant or Instrument containing Restrictions. Description of Lands.
Crown grant, Vol. 18, folio 143, of the Register-book, Auckland District, dated 3rd December, 1879, in favour of Hori Karaka, and containing the following restrictions: “Inalienable by sale, or lease for a longer period than twenty-one years, or by mortgage, except with the consent of the Governor previously obtained.” All that parcel of land in the Opotiki Survey District, containing 20 acres, and known as Waiotahe (Lot 75, Opotiki).
