Districts constituted under "The Registration of Births and
Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.

I
N pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Registration of Births
and Deaths Act, 1875," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
abolish the existing registration district known as the Tau-
ranga District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory
heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby
divided anew into two registration districts, the names and
boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—

TAURANGA DISTRICT.

All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
bounded towards the north-east by the sea, from the mouth
of the Waihi River to the Whakatane River; thence towards
the east by the latter river to the confiscation boundary-line;
thence towards the south by the said confiscation boundary-
line to the south-western corner of the Parish of Matata;
thence towards the west and again towards the south by the
County of Rotorua to the County of Piako; thence towards
the south-west by the said County of Piako; and towards
the north-west by the County of Ohinemuri to the mouth of
the Waihi River aforesaid, the place of commencement.

ROTORUA DISTRICT.

All that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
bounded towards the north by the County of Tauranga, from
the County of Piako to the Parish of Matata; thence towards
the east by the County of Whakatane to the confiscation
boundary-line; thence again towards the north by the said
confiscation boundary-line to the Whakatane River; thence
again towards the east generally by the said Whakatane
River to its source; thence by a right line to the source of
the Ohiwa or Waikare River, and by that river to Waikare-
moana; thence by the said Waikaremoana to its western-
most shore; thence towards the south by a right line to
Taupo Moana, at the southernmost corner of the Township
of Taupo; thence by the said Taupo Moana to the mouth of
the Waihora River; thence towards the west by a right line
to Atiamuri, on the Waikato River; thence by a right line
to Te Whetu Native settlement; thence by a right line to
Poutihi; and thence by the County of Piako aforesaid.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the twenty-second day of February, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
ninety.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Auckland, this
twenty-ninth day of January, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Sheep District of Marlborough amended, and Sheep District
of Kaikoura constituted.—Notice No. 284.

A PROCLAMATION.

W
HEREAS it is expedient that the Marlborough Sheep
District, as at present constituted, should be altered
and reconstituted, and that a new district, to be called the
Kaikoura Sheep District, should be constituted:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
eighth section of "The Sheep Act, 1878," do hereby consti-
tute anew the Marlborough Sheep District, and the subdivi-
sions thereof respectively, and hereby constitute a new
district, to be called the Kaikoura Sheep District; and I
do hereby declare that, for the purposes of the said Act, the
said districts and the subdivisions of the Marlborough Sheep
District shall hereafter be as the same are described in the
Schedule hereto, including in such districts or subdivisions
all boroughs within the territorial area comprised within the
external boundaries of any such district or subdivision as
defined in the said Schedule, although such boroughs do not
actually form part of any county therein mentioned; and
that such districts and subdivisions shall be known by the
names set over each such district and subdivision respectively
in the said Schedule.

ERRATUM.—In New Zealand Gazette No. 72, of the 19th December, 1889, page 1347, in the Rules fixing Life-saving
Appliances for Ships, in third line of paragraph (h), of Class 1, Division (A), read "life-buoy" in place of "lifeboat."
