Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage districts known as the Motueka and Nelson Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby divided anew into two marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—

MOTUEKA DISTRICT.

All that area in the Provincial District of Nelson bounded towards the north-west generally by the watershed between the Motueka and Takaka Rivers from Mount Arthur over Mount Richards to Mount Evans, and thence by the leading spur to the southern headland of Bark Bay; towards the east by the sea; towards the south-east generally by Sections Nos. 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 110, Block I., Waimea Survey District, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to Cut Hill; thence by Sections Nos. 36, 39, and 38, Block IV., Wai-iti Survey District, and by Section No. 37, Block VIII., to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence towards the south-west and south generally by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 188, by that section and Section No. 7 of the said Block VIII., across a road, and by Sections Nos. 26, 27, 28, and 29, Block VII., Wai-iti Survey District aforesaid, to the northern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 157, Block III.; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Section No. 113, Block II.; thence by Sections Nos. 150, 148, 147, and 108, Block II. aforesaid, to the road leading from the Village of Thorpe to the Moutere; thence by that road to the River Dove, near the said Village of Thorpe; thence by that river to a point in line with the western boundary-line of Section No. 88, Block I., of Wai-iti Survey District aforesaid; thence by a right line to the north-western corner of that section; thence by the said Section No. 88 to its south-western corner; thence by a right line to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 104 of the said Block I.; thence by that section to the Motueka River; thence by the said Motueka River to the confluence of the Baton River with that river; thence by the Baton River aforesaid to its source; and thence by a right line to Mount Arthur: including the adjacent islands.

NELSON DISTRICT.

All that area in the Provincial District of Nelson bounded towards the north generally by Section No. 103, Block I., Wai-iti Survey District, from the Motueka River to the southernmost corner of that section; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of Section No. 88 of the said Block I.; thence by Section No. 89 of Block I. aforesaid to the River Dove; thence by the right bank of that river to the road leading from the Village of Thorpe to the Moutere; thence by the north side of that road to Section No. 111, Block II. of the said Wai-iti Survey District; thence by that section and Sections Nos. 112 and 113 of the said Block II. to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of Section No. 157, Block III.; thence by a right line to the westernmost corner of Section No. 20 of the said Block III.; thence by that section and Sections Nos. 127 and 126, Block VII., the northern boundary-line of Section No. 26 of the said Block VII., and the northern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 7 and 188, Block VIII., to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of Section No. 37, Block VIII. aforesaid; thence towards the north-west generally by the western boundary-line of that section and the western boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 38, 39, and 36, Block IV., Wai-iti Survey District, to Cut Hill; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner of Section No. 192, Block I., Waimea Survey District, and thence by that section and Section No. 194 of the said Block I. to the sea; again towards the north and north-west generally by the sea; towards the south-east by the sea and Pelorus Sound to Elaine Bay; thence by the Provincial District of Marlborough to Mount Rintoul; thence towards the west by a line running due north (magnetic) to the River Lee; thence by that river and the Rivers Roding and Wairoa respectively to the Wai-iti; thence again towards the south-east by the last-mentioned river to the road running through Pigeon Valley; thence towards the south-west by that road and the track leading from Pigeon Valley to Wangapeka, as far as Stanley Brook; thence by Stanley Brook to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 85, Block VIII., Wangapeka Survey District; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of that section; and thence by the said Section No. 85 to the Motueka River; and thence towards the west generally by the said Motueka River to Section No. 103 aforesaid, the place of commencement: including D’Urville Island, Rabbit Island, and adjacent islands.

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the first day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Native Land proposed to be taken for a Road in Maungaru Survey District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of May, 1890.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the construction of a road:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as a road shall and may be constructed on or through the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

A ROAD, 100 links wide or thereabouts, commencing at the north-eastern boundary-line of the Owhatia Block No. 154 (in red), Maungaru Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland, and proceeding in southerly and westerly directions through the said block to the south-western boundary-line.

Vesting a Reserve in the Coromandel County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of July, 1890.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto was reserved for hospital purposes: And whereas it is expedient that the said land should be vested in the Coromandel County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the Coromandel County, in trust, for hospital purposes.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being Allotment No. 31 of the Town of Buffalo, containing 2 acres 2 roods 25 perches. Bounded towards the north-east by Lot No. 32 of the said town; towards the south-east by the south-east boundary of the said town; towards the south-west by a road, 100 links wide; towards the north-west by Lot No. 30 of the said town; again towards the south-west by Lot No. 30 and part of Lot No. 29 of the said town.
