District constituted under "The Marriage Act, 1880."

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880,"
I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing
marriage districts known as the Hokitika and Waimea
Districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory
heretofore comprised within the said districts is hereby
constituted one marriage district, the name and boundaries
whereof shall be as follow:β
HOKITIKA DISTRICT.
All that area in the County of Westland bounded towards
the north-east generally by Chesterfield Road, from the sea-
beach to its junction with Greenstone Road; thence by the
latter road to its junction with the Loop-line Road; thence
by the last-mentioned road to the Christchurch Road;
thence by the said Christchurch Road to Waimea or Blake
Creek; thence by the left bank of that creek to its con-
fluence with the Teremakau River; thence by the said
Teremakau River to its source; thence by a right line to the
saddle between the said Teremakau River and the Hurunui
River; thence towards the south-east by the summit of the
Southern Alps to a point due south of the source of a tribu-
tary of the Hokitika River (the Pass River); thence towards
the west by a right line to the source of the said Pass River;
thence by that river to its confluence with the Hokitika
River; thence by the said Hokitika River to a point four
miles south-west of the confluence of the Kokatahi River
with the said Hokitika River; thence by a right line
touching the south-westernmost extremity of Mahinapua
Lake to the sea; thence towards the north-west by the
sea to a point in line with the southern side of the said
Chesterfield Road; and thence again towards the north-east
by a right line to the southern side of the said Chesterfield
Road.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the fifteenth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twenty-third day of June, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
ninety.

Lands taken for a Road in Eastern Mahurangi Road
District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under "The Public Works
Act, 1882," and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the construction of roads in Eastern Mahurangi Road
District:
And whereas the Eastern Mahurangi Road Board has laid
before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map,
and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act
and the amendments thereof:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date
of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the
lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken
for the purposes of the construction of the said roads.

thereon coloured as above mentioned.
