PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 11th January, 1890, on a proposal to borrow £750, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming, bridging, and metalling the North Tiraumea Road, and the road between Sections 56 and 57, Block I., Makuri, leading to Section 2, Block IV., Makuri:—
Number of ratepayers on roll 14, representing 14 votes; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal 8, representing 8 votes; number of votes not recorded, 6.
A majority of votes having been recorded in favour of the proposal, I declare it to be carried.

THE following special order, made by the Upper Wangaehu Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT a special order be now made levying an additional special rate of ½d. in the pound of the capital value of all property within that portion of the Upper Wangaehu Road District bounded by a line commencing at the south-west corner of Run 4, Mangawhero Survey District; thence northwards by the western boundary of the road district to the Murimotu Run; thence southwards and eastwards by the southern boundary of the Murimotu Run to Hales’s road extension (known as the Taupo Road); thence southwards by the said Taupo Road to the western boundary of the Ruanui Run; thence southwards by the western boundary of Te Ruanui Run and Hales’s Murimotu Road to the Matawhitia Block; thence eastwards, southwards, and westwards by the boundaries of the Matawhitia Block to the Wangaehu River; thence northwards by the Wangaehu River to the south-east corner of Run 4, Mangawhero Survey District; thence by the southern boundary of Run 4, Mangawhero Survey District, to the starting-point: such rate to be leviable on all property within the said district liable to be specially rated under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and to be for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund for a loan of £180 obtained under the provisions of the said Acts; the said loan of £180 being the additional sum of 10 per cent. authorised to be borrowed under sections 21 and 22 of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” in order to complete the work for which the original loan of £1,800 was granted; and shall be an annually-recurring rate, leviable, if required, year by year, payable in one instalment, commencing on the 1st day of May, 1891, and on the same day of each year following until the loan in respect of which the said rate is made is paid off.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly passed by the Upper Wangaehu Road Board, as required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THE following special order, adopting a by-law, was made by the Kohi Road Board, at a meeting held on the 26th May, 1890: That the following penalties be levied on all cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, and entires found straying on the roads in the Kohi Road District: Cattle and horses, 1s. per head; pigs, 5s. per head; sheep, 1d. per head; entire animals, 10s. per head; and that the foregoing penalties be collected in the usual way as ordinary driving-fees.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a meeting held on the 26th May, 1890.

THE steam-dredge “Newcastle” will be moored mid-stream in the upper part of the North Channel for dredging purposes. The dredge “Hunter” will be moored in the North Channel also, and abreast of the Patent Slip, both working to the eastward. On and after Friday, the 2nd instant, vessels will pass to the southward of these dredges during the time this work is in progress.
