Amending the Description of the Argyle-Charleston Water-
Race.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS errors have occurred in the description of
the lands taken for the Argyle-Charleston Water-
race, as set forth in the First Schedule to a Proclamation
issued at Auckland, under the authority of "The Public
Works Act, 1882," on the fourteenth day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety:

And whereas it is desirable to amend the description of
the said lands in manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the hereinbefore-recited Act, and of all other powers and
authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
revoke the First Schedule to the said recited Proclamation of
the fourteenth day of April aforesaid, and in lieu thereof do
hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the
Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby declared
to be a water-race, under the name of the Argyle-Charleston
Water-race; and I do hereby further declare that, save as
hereby specially amended, the said recited Proclamation
shall remain and be of full force and effect.

SCHEDULE.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 254 acres, more or less, being a strip of land 5 chains
in width, viz., 2Β½ chains on each side of the centre line,
shown by a full red line on the plan referred to below,
situated in the Survey District of Waitakere, in the Pro-
vincial District of Nelson; commencing at a point on the
Four-Mile River about 20 chains up the creek from the
termination of the present county horse-track; proceeding
thence generally in a north-westerly direction for a distance
of about 6 miles 27 chains, and terminating at a point on,
and distant about 5Β½ chains from, the head of the water-
race known as the South Supply Race to Haine's Dam,
which said South Supply Race to Haine's Dam is one of the
water-races jointly registered as No. 598, in the District of
Charleston, in the Provincial District of Nelson; including
that before-mentioned stream of water called the Four-Mile
River, and including also all other streams and drainage-
courses which cross the said strip of land; save and except-
ing any lands, mining-rights, or privileges already granted
in connection with water-races or other mining purposes
at the time of this Proclamation, and which are included
within the above-mentioned area of 254 acres: as the same
is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D.

16529, and deposited in the Warden's Court, at Charleston,
in the said Karama Mining District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twenty-third day of May, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
ninety.

Native Land proposed to be taken for a Road in Maungaru
Survey District.

ONSLOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of May, 1890.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work authorised
to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the construc-
tion of a road:

And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency William Hillier,
Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government
work known as a road shall and may be constructed on or
through the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

A road, 100 links wide or thereabouts, commencing at the
north-eastern boundary-line of the Owhatia Block No. 154 (in
red), Maungaru Survey District, Provincial District of Auck-
land, and proceeding in southerly and westerly directions
through the said block to the south-western boundary-line.
