Lands taken for the Purpose of widening Streets in Borough
of Sydenham, Provincial District of Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1882,” and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the widening of certain streets in the Borough of Sydenham,
known as Ruskin Street and Waltham Road:

And whereas the Sydenham Borough Council has laid
before the Governor memorials, accompanied by maps and
also statutory declarations, as required by the said Act and
the amendments thereof:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
“The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the lands mentioned in
the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of
widening the said streets, and that, subject hereto, the said
lands shall vest in the Corporation of the said borough on
and after the date of the publication hereof in the New
Zealand Gazette.

Vesting Control of the Whangamarino Bridge in Waikato
County Council.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887” (hereinafter termed “the
said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation:

And whereas it is expedient that the control and management of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described:

Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the
said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge
mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Whangamarino Bridge, shall, from and after the first publication
hereof in the Auckland Weekly News and Town and Country
Journal newspaper, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of the Waikato County Council; and I do hereby
fix and determine that the Waikato County Council shall itself
provide out of its own funds seventy per centum of the cost
of managing and maintaining the said bridge; and that the
Mercer Road Board shall, on demand in writing from the
Waikato County Council, pay to the said Council from time
to time twelve per centum of the actual cost of managing
and maintaining the said bridge; and that the Pokeno and
Maungatawhiri Road Boards shall each respectively, on
demand in writing from the Waikato County Council, pay to
the said Council from time to time nine per centum of the
actual cost of managing and maintaining the said bridge.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Whangamarino River, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known as the Whangamarino
Road Bridge, and the approaches on each side thereof,
situated on the Great South Road; as the same is delineated
on the plan marked S.G. 11462, deposited in the General
Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
