ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day
of February, 1889.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section seven of "The Native Equitable
Owners Act, 1886," it is provided that the Native
Land Court of New Zealand shall have and may exercise the
jurisdiction conferred upon it by the said Act in respect of
any Native reserve situate in the South Island or in Stewart
Island which may be submitted to such jurisdiction by Order
in Council which the Governor was thereby authorised to
issue from time to time: And whereas it is expedient to
order and declare that the reserves described in the Schedule
hereto should be submitted to the jurisdiction aforesaid:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drum-
mond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him
by "The Native Equitable Owners Act, 1886," and acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the seve-
ral reserves described in the Schedule hereto shall, subject
to the provisions of the said Act, be subject to the jurisdic-
tion of the Native Land Court of New Zealand; and the said
Court shall have the like authority to deal with the said
reserves as it would have if the same were still Native lands
within the meaning of "The Native Land Court Act, 1880."
