Vesting Control of Waitahu Bridge in Inangahua County
Council.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section four of "The Public Works Acts
Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the
said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may,
upon the terms and conditions in the said section men-
tioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any
bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be
constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea
respectively, shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such
Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and
management of such local authority as shall be mentioned
in that behalf in such Proclamation:
And whereas it is expedient that the control and manage-
ment of the bridge described in the Schedule hereto should
be vested in the manner hereinafter described:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by the
said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge
mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and known as Waitahu
Bridge, shall, from and after the thirtieth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine, be under
the exclusive care, control, and management of the Inanga-
hua County Council; and I do hereby fix and determine that
the Inangahua County Council shall itself provide out of its
own funds the entire cost of managing and maintaining the
said bridge.
SCHEDULE.
THAT bridge over the Waitahu River known as the Waitahu
Bridge, situated about 3ΒΌ miles north-west of the Town of
Reefton, on the line of road which traverses Sections Nos.
96, 250, 249, and 248, Reefton Survey District, County of
Inangahua, the said line of road being a deviation of the
Reefton to Westport and Buller Road; as the same is
delineated on the plan marked S.G. 12364, deposited in the
General Survey Office, at Wellington, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, and thereon coloured burnt sienna.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron
Onslow, of Onslow in the County of Salop, and
of West Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron
Cranley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Dunedin, this
seventeenth day of November, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
nine.

ranga, Provincial District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken, under "The Public
Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885," for the construction
of a public work within the meaning of the said Act: And
whereas all notices and acts required by law to be given and
done have been duly given and performed, and the Minister
for Public Works has laid before the Governor a memorial
containing a list of the lands proposed to be taken as afore-
said, together with a map showing accurately the position
and extent thereof, as required by "The Public Works Act,
1882," and the Acts amending the same:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
"The Public Works Act, 1882," and "The Public Works
Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885," and of every other power
and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date
of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the
land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for
the construction of a public work within the meaning of
"The Public Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1885,"
namely, construction of works for purposes of defence at
Ngahauranga, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
