THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Amending Regulation under "The Post Office Act, 1881."
comprising a majority in number of the Native owners of
the land described in the second column of the Schedule
hereto, praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such
lands contained in the Crown grant, bearing date the twenty-
third day of November, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-one, described in the first column of the said
Schedule, may be removed: And whereas it appears ex-
pedient to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and
acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said Crown grant on the aliena-
tion of the said lands are hereby removed.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of September, 1889.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date the
fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
fifteenth day of April then instant, certain regulations were
made under "The Post Office Act, 1881 " (hereinafter termed
"the said Act"), for receiving, despatching, conveying, and
delivering through the post of (inter alia) book-packets,
magazines, and newspapers: And whereas it is expedient to
revoke the said regulations in part, and to make other pro-
vision in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority con-
ferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby revoke number seven of the said recited regula-
tions appearing under the heading "Newspapers," which
said regulation refers to the transmission through the post of
newspaper exchanges, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make
the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth
hereby declare that the said-recited regulations shall hence-
forth be read and construed, so far as practicable, as if the
regulation hereby made had been originally inserted in the
said-recited regulations; and doth further declare that this
Order in Council shall come into force and take effect as from
the twenty-sixth day of September instant.

SCHEDULE.

  1. "NEWSPAPER exchanges" (i.e., newspapers exchanged
    between newspaper offices) are permitted to pass through
    the post free of postage, if posted in single numbers, from
    any newspaper office within the colony, and addressed to
    the editor, proprietor, publisher, or manager of any news-
    paper published in the colony, and provided that the title
    of the newspaper, and the words "Newspaper Exchange
    only," be written or printed on each cover above the
    address. Newspaper exchanges not posted in accordance
    with the foregoing will be charged full letter-rates.

A83, folio 185, dated the 23rd
November, 1871, in favour of
Hori Winiata, Nopera, Uta-
hura te Hakuene, and Ara-
peta Paiura, and containing
the following restrictions: "In-
alienable by sale, or by lease
for a longer period than twenty-
one years, or by mortgage, ex-
cept with the consent of the
Governor being previously ob-
tained."

All that parcel of land in
the District of Kaipara, in the
Provincial District of Auck-
land, containing 93 acres,
and known by the name of
Motutara, Kaipara.

Vesting Reserves in the Ashburton County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of September, 1889.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
were reserved for river protection: And whereas it
is expedient that the said lands should be vested in the Ash-
burton County Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of
"The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby declare that,
from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the
Chairman, Councillors, and inhabitants of the Ashburton
County, in trust, for the improvement and protection of the
banks of the River Ashburton.

SCHEDULE.

RESERVE No. 2242 (in red), containing 458 acres, more or
less; Reserve No. 2243 (in red), containing 25 acres, more or
less; Reserve No. 2244 (in red), containing 78 acres 3 roods,
more or less.

in Council by Erueti Wetea and Meteria Papahuaki,
successor to Manahi Tautepaoa, the Native owners of the
land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto,
praying that the restrictions on the alienation of such lands
contained in the certificate of title, bearing date the twenty-
seventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
two, described in the first column of the said Schedule, may
be removed: And whereas it appears expedient to grant
such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Right Honourable
William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred on him by "The Native Land Act, 1888," and
acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that all
restrictions imposed by the said certificate of title on the
alienation of the said lands are hereby removed.
