  1. No person shall be allowed to select more than one
    section.

  2. The purchaser for cash of any of the lands enumerated
    in the Schedule hereto will be required to make a statutory
    declaration in terms of section eleven of "The Land Act
    Amendment Act, 1887," that he is applying for the land
    solely for his own use and benefit, and not for the use and
    benefit of any other person or persons whomsoever; and
    must deposit with the Receiver of Land Revenue for the
    land district one-fifth of the purchase-money at the time of
    application, and shall pay the whole remainder of the pur-
    chase-money, together with one pound, Crown-grant fee,
    within thirty days of the granting of his application, when
    he will be entitled to a Crown grant, to be issued in the
    usual way. But if the whole purchase-money and Crown-
    grant fee be not paid within thirty days, his deposit shall be
    forfeited, and the land shall be again open for sale or occupa-
    tion forthwith.

  3. If any of the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
    are selected upon deferred payments, the selector shall be
    subject to the provisions relating to Part III. of "The Land
    Act, 1885."

  4. Each applicant for a deferred-payment section will be
    required to make the declaration prescribed by section one
    hundred and thirteen of "The Land Act, 1885," and shall at
    the time of application deposit with the Receiver of Land
    Revenue for the land district one-twenty-eighth of the price
    if the allotment is over twenty acres, and one-tenth if it
    is under that area, together with twenty-one shillings
    license-fee; such payment shall be deemed to be a dis-
    charge of the instalment for the six months due on the
    next first day of January or July following the date of
    the license, as the case may be; and, upon fulfilment of the
    terms and conditions prescribed by the said Act relating to
    land on deferred payments, will be entitled to the Crown
    grant, to be issued in the usual way.

  5. If any of the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
    are selected under the perpetual-leasing system, the selector
    shall be subject to the provisions of Part IV. of "The Land
    Act, 1885."

  6. Each applicant for any of the allotments on perpetual
    leasing will be required to make the declaration prescribed
    by section one hundred and forty-three of "The Land Act,
    1885," and shall at the time of application deposit with the
    Receiver of Land Revenue for the land district a sum equal
    to one half-year's rent of the allotment included in the
    application, together with the sum of thirty shillings for the
    lease and registration thereof, and such payment shall be in
    discharge of the half-year's rent due on the first day of
    January or July which shall first ensue after the commence-
    ment of the term.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Parliament Buildings, at Wellington, this fifteenth
day of August, 1889.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Public Domains Act, 1881,"
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council,
dated the ninth day of April, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-eight, making delegation of certain powers in
manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice
and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with
respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Sche-
dule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid,
except the powers under or conferred by sections five and
twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall
be known as the East Gore (Gordon) Public Domain Board,
namely,-

ALEXANDER BROWN,
JOHN MCGIBBON, Junior,
JOHN MCCAW,
FREDERICK WALLIS,
ROBERT DUNLOP, and
The CHAIRMAN of the GORDON TOWN BOARD (ex officio)
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,-

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the first Monday in each month, at eight o'clock p.m., at
    the Provincial Hotel, East Gore, or at such other time or
    place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.
    The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the second day
    of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. An
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first
    Monday in February in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
