Description of Land: Open land of poor quality, very
broken, situate on the north-east of Lake Waikare. There
are numerous small patches of stunted bush growing in the
gullies, also small quantities of flax. The land is well
watered and fairly accessible, but not fit for agricultural
purposes.

REMARKS.
Fine weather up to 9th, and N.W. winds and strong
on 6th; from 10th to 19th light showers, the maximum fall
recorded for month on 10th, 25in.; wind during this period
chiefly southerly, but moderate; hail on 15th and 17th; re-
mainder of month generally fine from N.W., and S. towards
end; fog on 28th and 29th. On the whole a fine month;
very small total rainfall. Maximum temperature in shade,
67; minimum, 36. Mean temperature of dewpoint, 45.3;
mean humidity, 76. Slight earthquakes on 13th and on 27th,
about 8 a.m.
