with the exception of patches here and there, varies from fair
to good. The southern part of the block is distant from
Ashurst about ten miles, six miles of which is by dray-road,
the rest by pack-track along the river-bed. The country is
from 600ft. to 1,600ft. above the sea-level; the climate is
moist and favourable, tending to make the lands well
adapted for pastoral pursuits.

Selection.
ONSLOW, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the third section of "The Land
Act Amendment Act, 1887" (hereinafter termed "the said
Act"), I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section
is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enume-
rated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or
selection, after the lapse of a period of forty-five days from
the date of the first public notification hereof, in the manner
and upon the conditions mentioned in the said Act, and at
the price per acre respectively set opposite such land in the
said Schedule.

the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and
after the day of the date hereof, the notification issued on the
first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
eight, opening land for sale or selection under the provisions
of "The Land Act Amendment Act, 1887," shall be and the
same is revoked in so far as it relates to the sections of land
mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
