Revoking the Setting-apart of Land in the Otago Land
District for Perpetual Leasing.

A PROCLAMATION.
B Y virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the sixth section of "The Land Act,
1885," and of every other power and authority enabling
him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
revoke the Proclamation dated the twenty-first day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, in so far as it
relates to the sections of land enumerated in the Schedule
hereto, which were, with other lands, set apart for leasing
under the provisions of sections three to forty-eight of "The
Land Act 1887 Amendment Act, 1882."
SCHEDULE.
WAIKOUAITI DISTRICT.
SECTION 9, Block VI., 318 acres 2 roods 27 perches; Section
10, Block VI., 211 acres 1 rood 26 perches.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, of
Onslow in the County of Salop; Viscount Cranley,
of Cranley in the County of Surrey; Baron Onslow,
of Onslow in the County of Salop, and of West
Clandon in the County of Surrey; Baron Cran-
ley, of Imbercourt; Baronet; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council;

A PROCLAMATION.
COLONY OF NEW ZEALAND,
TO WIT.
W HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New
Zealand intituled "The Prisons Act, 1882," it is
provided that the Governor may, by Proclamation published
in the Gazette, declare any house, building, enclosure, or
place to be a prison; and from and after the gazetting of
any such Proclamation, or from any time later specified in
the Proclamation, such house, building, enclosure, or place
shall be deemed a prison:
Now, therefore, I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that
the Defence Buildings at Fort Jervois, in the Provincial
District of Canterbury, and all enclosures used or occupied
therewith, shall, from and after the publication of this Pro-
clamation in the Gazette, be a prison within the meaning and
for the purposes of "The Prisons Act, 1882."

At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
W HEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, the
construction of a road in Horowhenua County:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native
owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
vested in him by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency William Hil-
lier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that
the public work hereinbefore mentioned shall and may be
constructed on or through the parcels of land more par-
ticularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
