NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD J. T. FORD, of Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand, Manager of the Market and Exchange Agency Company, has applied, on behalf of the said company, to register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the follow-
ing is a description :—

The words "The Market and Exchange Advertiser," printed in large type, and in small type immediately below the above the following words: "A New Zealand Business Journal, in which subscribers have the privilege of inserting certain specified advertisements Free of charge. Commission, how-
ever, charged on sales effected."
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
A business journal, to be issued monthly or otherwise, in which subscribers will have the privilege, on conditions which will be published, of inserting certain specified advertisements free of charge; commission, however, being charged by the proprietors on sales effected.

Special Order made by Tauranga County Council.—Amend-
ing Boundaries of Te Puke Road District and Maketu and Waimapu Ridings.

THE following special order, made by the Tauranga County Council, is published in accordance with "The Counties Act, 1886."

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Tauranga County Council on Wednesday, the 28th November, 1888, and confirmed at a subsequent Meeting held on Tuesday, the 8th January, 1889.
THAT the boundaries of the Maketu Riding of the Tauranga County be altered to the following: All that area in the County of Tauranga bounded towards the north-east by the Bay of Plenty; towards the east by the County of Whakatane; towards the south by the County of Rotorua to Trig. Station No. 15 on Otanewainuku; and thence towards the west generally by the Waoku Block No. 1, and the Otawa Blocks Nos. 1 and 2, and the Ngapeke Block to Tauranga Harbour; and thence by that harbour to the Bay of Plenty.
That the boundaries of the Waimapu Riding of the Tauranga County be altered to the following: All that area in the County of Tauranga bounded towards the north-east generally by Tauranga Harbour and the Borough of Tau-
ranga; towards the east generally by the Maketu Riding, hereinbefore described; towards the south by the County of Rotorua; and towards the west by the Te Puna Road District: as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 42, 18th May, 1883.
That the boundaries of the Te Puke Road District be altered to the following: All that area in the County of Tau-
ranga bounded towards the north-east by the Bay of Plenty, from the southern entrance to Tauranga Harbour to Trig. Station No. 17, Te Tuma Survey District; thence towards the east by a line bearing south 3° 28' 30" west to Trig. Station Te Kapua on the Kaituna River (the said line being part of the western boundary-line of the Kaituna); thence by the Kaituna River, and the Waiari River, and the Mangatoa Stream to the County of Rotorua; thence towards the south by the County of Rotorua to Trig. Station No. 15 on Otanewainuku; and thence towards the west generally by the Waoku Block, and the Otawa Blocks Nos. 1 and 2, and the Ngapeke Block to Tauranga Harbour; and thence by that harbour to the Bay of Plenty.
I certify that the above special order has been duly made.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Okain's Bay Road District, County of Akaroa.

ance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Okain's Bay Road District.
NOTICE is hereby given that the following is the result of a poll taken on the 15th day of December, 1888, on a proposal to borrow £500 from the Government to erect a wharf in the Little Akaloa part of the district, and forming road to same :—
Ratepayers on roll, 45; votes exercisable on roll, 64. Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 31; number of votes in favour of proposal, 44; number of votes not exercised, 20; number of votes against proposal, 0.
As a majority of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the number of votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.

H.M.S. "Calliope," at Tonga,
23rd September, 1888.
THE following hydrographic notice, dated the 21st September, 1888, has been received from the Captain of H.M.S. "Egeria," and is hereby promulgated :—
Monro Rock, Nukualofa, Tongatabu.—A small coral head, with 4 fathoms on it, lies with the following bearings, all of which are true: Church on Mount Zion, S. 6° 31' W.; north entrance Attataa Island, S. 49° 30' W.; Mallenoah Island, S. 47° 45' E.
As the ground around this has not yet been critically examined, there may possibly be less water.

Kennedy Shoal.—Shoal to Westward of the Family Islands.

H.M.S. "Calliope," 16th October, 1888.
THE following information, dated the 10th October, 1888, received from Lieutenant Commander Richards, H.M.S. "Paluma," is hereby promulgated :—
Kennedy Shoal.—Has recently been examined by H.M.S. "Paluma," and was found to extend two and three-quarter miles in a north and south direction, and one and a half miles east and west, the depth on it varying from 2 to 9 fathoms. The shoal consists of numerous coral heads on a coarse sandy bottom. The least depth found was 1¾ fathoms. At the point where the shoal encroaches most on the inner route the bearings are as follows: Hillock Point, S. 7½° W.; Goold Peak, S. 67½° W.; Dunk Island (south-east peak), N. 69° W., which agrees very well with the present charted position.
Shoal Ground westward of Family Islands.—A least depth of 15ft., gravel bottom, was found on a shoal of small extent in the channel westward of the Family Islands. From the shoal Mount Islet bears N. 9½° E.; Goold Peak, S. 22½° E.; Tam O'Shanter Point (south extreme), N. 60° W., distant one and a quarter miles.
