WOODVILLE CHEESE AND BACON FACTORY COMPANY (LIMITED).

EXTRAORDINARY meeting of shareholders, held in the Woodville Schoolhouse, the 25th March, 1889. Charles Hall in the chair. Twenty-two shareholders were present.

Resolved, “That, as the balance-sheet proves that the financial condition of the company renders it impossible to carry on its business, it is hereby resolved that the company be wound up voluntarily.”

Resolved, “That Charles Hall be appointed Liquidator in winding-up the company, at the sum of fifteen pounds sterling as remuneration.”

Resolved, “That it be a recommendation to the Liquidator to accept the offer of Messrs. Hartstone and Monteith of seven hundred pounds sterling.”

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto existing between the undersigned in the practice or profession of Barristers, Solicitors, and Conveyancers, and carried on under the style or firm of “Sinclair and McCallum,” has, by mutual consent, been dissolved as from this date.

THE DUNEDIN CITY AND SUBURBAN TRAMWAYS COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that the subjoined by-laws and regulations were duly made and passed by the Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Company (Limited), at a meeting of the Directors thereof, held at the registered office of the company in Dunedin, on the 26th day of March, 1889, and that the same by-laws and regulations will come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1889.

BY-LAWS and REGULATIONS made by The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Company (Limited) under the powers conferred on it by “The Tramways Act, 1872,” and “The Tramways Act 1872 Amendment Act, 1888.”

  1. THE by-laws and regulations hereinafter set forth shall extend and apply to all cars, carriages, and engines used or worked by the company, and to all places with respect to which the company has power to make by-laws or regulations.

The term “conductor” shall mean and include any officer or servant in the employment of the company having charge of a car.

Words importing the singular number shall also include the plural, and words importing the masculine gender shall also include the feminine.

  1. Every passenger on any of the company’s cars shall, upon demand, pay to the conductor or other servant of the company authorised to collect the fares the fare legally payable by him for the journey which he is then making.

  2. Every passenger shall show his ticket when required so to do to the inspector, conductor, or any other duly-authorised servant of the company; and shall also, when required so to do, deliver up his ticket to the conductor or other servant as aforesaid.

  3. No ticket that is defaced, illegible, or altered will be accepted by any conductor or other servant of the company, and the holder of any such ticket will be regarded as not having paid his fare, and shall, upon demand, pay to the conductor the fare legally payable for the journey then being made by him.

  4. No person shall smoke tobacco or any other substance inside any car.

  5. No person shall give or offer any fee or reward to any conductor or any other servant of the company, and no conductor or other servant of the company shall accept a fee or reward from any person.

  6. No person shall make use of any obscene, insulting, abusive, threatening, or offensive words or behaviour in or upon any car, or permit any nuisance in, upon, or against any car, or wilfully interfere with the comfort of any passenger.

  7. No person shall, while riding in or upon any car, play or perform upon any musical instrument without the permission of the conductor.

  8. No person in a state of intoxication or suffering from any infectious disorder shall be allowed to enter into or upon any car; and any such person so found in or upon any car shall be liable to be immediately removed by the conductor or some person appointed by him.

  9. No person not being a servant of the company shall travel on the steps of any car, or stand on the roof, or sit on or lean against the outside rail on the roof of any car.

  10. A person whose dress or clothing might, in the opinion of the conductor of any car, injure or soil any part of the car, or the dress or clothing of any passenger; or a person who, in the opinion of the conductor, might for any other reason be offensive or give annoyance to passengers, may be prevented from entering or remaining in or upon any car; and if found in or upon any car shall, on the request of the conductor, leave the car upon the fare (if previously paid) being returned; and, in default of leaving the car when so requested as aforesaid, any such person as aforesaid may be forcibly ejected from the car.

  11. Passengers shall only be allowed to take luggage (including the tools of artisans, mechanics, and labourers) on a car with the consent of the conductor, and such luggage shall be placed where directed by the conductor.

  12. No person, except a passenger or intending passenger, shall enter or mount any car; and no person shall hold or hang on by or to any part of any car.

  13. No person shall enter, mount, or leave, or attempt to enter, mount, or leave, any car whilst in motion.

  14. No dog or other animal shall be allowed in or on any car.

  15. No person shall travel in or on any car with loaded firearms.

  16. No passenger shall wilfully obstruct or impede any servant of the company in the execution of his duty upon or in connection with any car or tramway.

  17. Any conductor failing to enforce these by-laws or regulations to the best of his ability shall be deemed to have committed a breach of these by-laws or regulations, and be liable to the penalty provided thereby.

  18. Any person committing any breach of any of these by-laws or regulations shall, on conviction thereof, be liable to be fined any sum not exceeding £2.

The foregoing by-laws and regulations were duly made and passed by the Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Company (Limited), at a meeting of the Directors thereof, held at the office of the company on the 26th day of March, 1889, and the common seal of the said company hath been hereunto affixed in the presence of
