Lands taken for Palmerston North Waterworks.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto
are required to be taken, under “The Public Works
Act, 1882,” and its amendments, for a certain work, to wit,
the construction of waterworks for the supply of pure water
for the use of the inhabitants of the Borough of Palmerston
North:

And whereas the Borough Council of Palmerston North
has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a
map, and also the statutory declaration, required by the said
Act and the amendments thereof:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by
“The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and
authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the lands mentioned in the Sche-
dule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned:
and, further, that subject hereto the said lands shall vest in
the Corporation of the said borough on and after the date of
the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

THE several parcels of land mentioned in list hereunder:—

All in the Provincial District of Wellington; as the said
parcels of land are more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 16161, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-
able Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
lington, this fourteenth day of March, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-nine.

Declaring that certain Fences constructed in connection
with the Greymouth—Hokitika Railway shall be main-
tained at the Cost of Her Majesty the Queen.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section fifteen of “The
Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887,” that
the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation
publicly gazetted, declare, on behalf of Her Majesty, that
any fences constructed, or intended to be constructed, by or
on behalf of Her Majesty, for separating land taken for the
use of any railway in such Proclamation mentioned from
the adjoining lands not taken, shall, to such extent as is
mentioned in such Proclamation, be thereafter maintained,
or erected and maintained, as the case may require, at the
cost of Her Majesty during such time as the railway may
continue to be used by or on behalf of the Government of

New Zealand: And whereas it is desirable that the fences,
crossings, gates, and approaches constructed on behalf of
Her Majesty (to extent mentioned in the Schedule below)
shall be maintained, as hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by
section fifteen of “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act,
1887,” and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby declare that the
fences, crossings, gates, and approaches erected on behalf of
Her Majesty, to extent indicated in Schedule hereunder,
shall be hereafter wholly maintained at the cost of Her
said Majesty during such time as the said railway may
continue to be used by the Government of New Zealand or
by any Board of Commissioners to whom the railways may
at any time be handed over.

SCHEDULE.

GREYMOUTH—HOKITIKA RAILWAY.

FENCING at both sides of railway throughout the whole ex-
tent to which it passes through Section No. 578, Block III.,
Waimea Survey District, Provincial District of Westland,
together with gates, approaches, and level crossing at 14
miles 64 chains 15 links, and at 15 miles 7 chains 10 links,
measuring from Hokitika, in accordance with existing rail-
way chainage as pegged on the ground.

in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of

Central Railway:
