No. 3571.—THOMAS ALVA EDISON, of Llewellyn Park, Essex, New Jersey, United States of America, Electrician, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in methods and apparatus for recording and reproducing sounds, and for preparing surfaces for receiving sound-records, and in materials or compositions for such surfaces.
No. 3572.—THOMAS ALVA EDISON, of Llewellyn Park, Essex, New Jersey, United States of America, Electrician, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in phonographs.
No. 3573.—THOMAS ALVA EDISON, of Llewellyn Park, Essex, New Jersey, United States of America, Electrician, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in apparatus for recording and reproducing sound, and in surfaces for receiving such sound record, and methods of making and using such surfaces.
And I have appointed Friday, the 10th day of May next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 25th day of April next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 3574.—WILLIAM GEORGE QUICKE, Sen., of Invercargill, New Zealand, Carpenter, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a combined sack-truck lift, to be called “Quicke’s Patent Sack-truck and Lift.”
No. 3575.—JOHN ADKINS, of Stafford Street, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, Hotel Manager, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a spring mattress, entitled “The Improved Spring Mattress.”
No. 3576.—CHARLES EDWARD WALKER, of West Melton, Canterbury, New Zealand, Machinist, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for a machine for sharpening chaff-cutter knives, to be called “The Canterbury Flexible Sharpener.”
No. 3577.—ARTHUR STEELE FORD, of Thames Goldfields, Auckland, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for Ford’s patent tailing-crusher and cylindrical friction amalgamator.
And I have appointed Friday, the 7th day of June next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 23rd day of May next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

No. 3579.—JOHN ANDERSON, of Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, Iron- and Brass-founder, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improvement in archimedean ventilators.
No. 3580.—GEORGE SOLLITT, of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, Builder, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention called “The Kaipai General Cooper,” a machine for making all description of wood holloware.
No. 3581.—ARCHIBALD SIDDALL, of Ryde, New South Wales, Bank Accountant, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for an improved hanger for picture-frames and such like objects.
No. 3582.—WILLIAM FAIRWEATHER, of Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand, Engineer, has deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improving the drum and bearings of a flax-stripper, the drum to be called “The Go-ahead Flax-drum.”
No. 3583.—JOHN ROBERT PADDLE and CLEMENT VAN DE VELDE, both of Sydney, New South Wales, Engineers, have deposited at this office a specification of an invention for improvements in locomotive furnaces, parts of which are applicable to other steam-boiler furnaces.
And I have appointed Tuesday, the 11th day of June next, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said applications and all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of any such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the 27th day of May next, at this office, particulars in writing of their objections to any of the said applications, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.
